Services on Friday at Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, 6844 Lower Richland Boulevard, Hopkins, South carolina with burial in the Church's Cemetery, also in Hopkins, South Carolina.

Mr. Michael Tyrone Drayton, of 8050 Taylor Road, Riverdale, Georgia, was born in Richland County, South Carolina on April 3, 1955.  “Mike,” as he was affectionately called, was the son of  Woodrow Drayton, Sr. and the late Daisy Pugh Drayton.  He departed this life to be with the Lord on Friday, July 16, 2010, at the Emory University Hospital in Decatur, Georgia.

Michael was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina.  He enlisted in the U. S. Army at Fort Jackson in 1974.  He graduated from Midland’s Technical College of Columbia, South Carolina in 1977.  He continued to be an electrician for thirty-five (35) years.

He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to all who knew him.  He will surely be missed.

Mr. Michael Tyrone Drayton leaves to cherish his precious memory: his loving wife, Abbie Jean Smith Drayton; six daughters, Latoria and Precious Drayton, both of Jonesboro, Georgia, Lakiesha, MiKeisha, Daniqual Drayton and Destiny Taylor, all of Columbia, South Carolina; one son, Dalton Smith of Columbia, South Carolina; his loving father, Woodrow Drayton, Sr., of Columbia, South Carolina; two sisters, Rosemary Drayton and Marie Drayton, both of Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers, Donald Drayton of Columbia, South Carolina and Woodrow Drayton, Jr. of Indianapolis, Maryland; a host of grandchildren, special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, many other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
