W. Joshlin Brunson

Services on Saturday at Second Baptist Church, 32 McMillian Road, Brunson, South Carolina with burial to follow in the church's cemetery, also in Brunson.

W. Joshlin Brunson was born in Brunson, South Carolina.  She was the daughter of Alice Virginia Washington Brunson and the late Joshua Brunson, Sr.  She departed this earthly life on Monday, July 19, 2010.

She attended Allen Elementary School in Brunson, South Carolina and North District Middle School in Varnville, SC.  At the age of fouteen, she left home for high school to attend the prestigious "Mather Private Boarding School" in Beaufort, SC.  Soon after, Joshlin was accepted to Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina where she received  a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Communications. Ms. Brunson also holds a Master of Science Degree in Speech and Language Pathology with a minor in Social Linguistics from the University of the District of Columbia.  After graduation, she was a college professor at Texas Tech University and the Community College of Baltimore. She was a retired Speech and Language Pathologist and Educator in the Baltimore City Public School System. in 2003.  In addition to her excellent skills in education; she was also a successful real estate investor.  She bought her first property not far from her hometown in South Carolina.  She owned and managed her own daycare center and boutique for over ten years.  In her mid-30's, she solely acquired 19 properties throughout the city of Baltimore, Maryland.

Joshlin was a humanitarian at heart.  She actively donated money to various charities and for the past two years, she sponsored a child (Gabisa) in Ethiopia.  Joshlin was also actively devoted to education reform.  She has written grants and proposals to help develop and fund effective educational programs for today's youth.  Joshlin was always earger to help those in need.

Joshlin loved to read and talk.  You would often find her having a detailed conversation about religion, politics, social reform, world affairs, finances or her beautiful daughters.  She was actively involved in each of her daughter's lives.  She was often seen on the front row at PTA meetings, after school programs, and graduations.  She did not believe in mediocrity and she encouraged her daughters to reach for the stars and live limitlessly.

Joshlin loved to travel and has explored various places including: Johannesburg, South Africa, Saint Kitts, West Indies, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Mexico, Canada, and various places throughout the United States.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joshua Brunson, Sr.

Mrs. W. Joshlin Brunson leaves to cherish precious memory: her two loving daughters, Christie Karin Brunson-Ritchie and Ashley Nicole Brunson-Jones, her mother, Alice Brunson, sister, Betty Brunson Council, brothers,Ruddie Brunson and Joshua Brunson Jr.;  a sister, Lutrell Brunson Forester; a host of other loving relatives and and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
