Ms. Carrie Lee Stivender Askew was born on January 21, 1946 in Columbia, South Carolina.  She was the daughter of the late Lesester Stivender and Annie Mae Stivender.  She departed this life on Monday, July 19, 2010.

Ms. Askew was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina; she served her country by enlisting into the U. S. Army where she became an LPN.  She went on to work and worked for nearly 15 years for the Veteran’s Administration.  At the VA, she used her skills to continue to serve her fellow soldiers and her country.  She also worked at the Midland Center, C. M. Tucker Center, and Babcock Center.  She loved what she did, and if you worked with her then you know how much she loved her job.

She was a loving mother and a dear friend to those who knew her well.  She will be greatly missed.
