George Leevy Johnson is a 1992 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated from the University of South Carolina’s School of Law in 1995. As part of his training to become a lawyer, George served as a summer intern for Chief Justice Jean Toal at the South Carolina Supreme Court. Additionally, he served as a law clerk for Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough law firm; the Gedney Howe Law Firm; and Johnson, Toal & Battiste, P.A. His outstanding performance as a law clerk earned him a position with the firm as an associate. George became a Shareholding Partner with the firm in 2002.

George is a member of the Richland County Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, American Bar Association and the National Bar Association. He is active in the General Practice Section of the American Bar Association; from 2002-2003, George was a General Practice Section Minority Fellow. Attorney Johnson is also a Licensed Funeral Director and is a fourth generation funeral director with the Leevy’s Funeral Home. Leevy’s Funeral Home was founded in 1932 by his great-grandfather, I. S. Leevy; owned by his father I. S. Leevy Johnson and managed by his brother, Chris Leevy Johnson. He is married to the former Michelle Hurley and they have two daughters, Rachel Hurley Johnson and Ryann Leevy Johnson.
