Mrs. Beverly Owens Murray was born March 15, 1964, in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Ellen Bell Rice Johnson and Eugene Owens, Sr., and stepdaughter of the late Otis C. Johnson. On Monday, May 17, 2021, she departed this earthly life to be with her Heavenly Father. Beverly was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. She was a 1982 graduate of W. J. Keenan High School. Beverly was a dedicated and faithful member of the Bride Tabernacle of Jesus Christ Church, in Columbia, South Carolina. She passionately enjoyed singing at her church and fellowshipping with her church family. Beverly had a passion for interior decorating as well as cooking. She had a big heart when it came to helping others in her family, as well as her community. She made sure that her family members, who were ill and needed her attention, received the best care from her. She was always pleasant and polite, with anyone who got to know her. Beverly was employed for many years with the Department of Corrections. However, for the past several years, she worked as a teacher’s aide/hall monitor for Richland County School District One at Hopkins Middle School, Hopkins, South Carolina. She was committed to helping children, and had their best interest at heart. Beverly was united in Holy Matrimony to Gerald Murray, of Columbia on June 30, 2007. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Eugenia Octavia Owens Bouknight. Mrs. Beverly Owens Murray leaves to cherish her precious memory: a loving and faithful husband, Gerald Murray; two brothers, Eugene C. (Cheryl) Owens, of Clarksville, Tennessee and Stanley (Letta) Owens, of Atlanta, Georgia; her mother-in-law, Ms. Beverly Williams; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

  1. Brother Murray my name is Greg Means. Beverly was a great friend in High School. I just learned today of her passing and it took me a back. My Brother I am deeply sorry for the loss of your soulmate and friend. You and your family shall be in our prayers. In the few short seconds we call years that the Lord gives us to share, it isn’t always the amount of time but how we love in the time that is given. Allow Psalms 46:1 to be shoulder to lean on. Sincerly Greg and Virginia Means

  14. As I type this I’m heartbroken and in tears. When you and I talked a few weeks ago, we were rejoicing because you’ve received good news, only to learn it was short lived. I can truly say you were my faithful friend with an listen ear. You always put others first before yourself, and that showed you were a selfless person and it didn’t go unnoticed. I want to thank you for being loyal to our friendship. The girls and I are going to miss you dearly, but get you rest Sis. Gerald, I know you’re aware of this, but Beverly loved you dearly and were so grateful God placed you in her life. I know it may be difficult, but may God grant you and the family comfort and strength. 🙏🏾💜💞
