  Deacon George Amos Young was born to George and Lillie Ruff Young on September 20, 1936. He was the third oldest of seven siblings. He departed this life on Monday, June 14, 2021 at home. Deacon Young attended public schools in Fairfield County, South Carolina, before he had to assist with providing for his family. He worked with Hebrew Construction, M L Gain Construction Co., Standard Warehouse, as a forklift driver, and Richtex Brick from 1960-1998. He was a hard worker, and was dedicated in providing the best life for his family. He was known for being a dependable welder. After taking care of his daughter during her illness, he returned to contract welding for Carolina Ceramic from 2004-2012. Deacon George A. Young served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board at County Grove Baptist Church for 50 plus years. During his time at County Grove Baptist Church, he also served as the choir leader and ministered in song all over Winnsboro, SC and surrounding areas. After retiring from County Grove Baptist Church, he later joined First Nazareth Baptist Church, and served as a deacon, there later retiring as an Active Deacon Emeritus. Deacon Young was preceded in death by: his high school sweetheart, whom he married from 1965-1976, Queenie E. Yarborough Young; his parents; three sisters, Viola Y. Pearson, Annie Y Kennedy, and Mary Young; and two brothers Joseph Turner and Baylus Sam Young. Deacon George Amos Young leaves to mourn his passing: his children, Amos W. Young, Amos E. Curlee, Warren (Diane) Gaither, Pastor Angela Jenkins, Evelyn (Rex) Jenkins, George M. Green, Pastor Norman (Delores) Curlee, Anita (John) Sparks, Amy Hilton, Jennifer S. Richmond, and Brenda Boulware; sisters, Albertha Johnson and Easter Y. Myers; grandchildren, Keith, Amos (Deman), Queen, Felicia, Donald Jr., De’anna, Joshua, Quinn, Travis, Camilla, Jacquila, Angelica, Norman Jr., Martinez, Alvin III, Michael, Jonathan, Normanda, and Malaysia; 20+ great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; a longtime friend, Gladys Hardy; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving family, and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
