Ms. Willine Gilmore Wright, affectionately known as Mickey, was born to the late Juanita Singleton and Willie Lee Gilmore, on July 11, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York, but was reared in Eastover, South Carolina. Willine transitioned from this earthly life on Thursday, June 17, 2021, in Eastover, South Carolina.
She joined St. Phillip A.M.E. Church. She served on the Usher’s Ministry.
Willine graduated from Lower Richland High School, Class of 1976. She retired from Fort Jackson’s Clothing Intel Issuing Point, after 17 ½ years of service.
Willine enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to sing and her favorite quote was, “What you say, what you say, what you say…?” She would tell you what she thought, even if you wanted to hear it or not.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; a sister, Barbara Loretta Taylor; and a grandson, Tommy Wright, III.
Ms. Willie Gilmore Wright leaves to cherish her special and loving memory: her children, Veronica Weston, Wanda Wright (James Hargrave) and Tommy (Tina) Wright; her siblings, Mary Ann Gilmore, of Eastover, SC, Queen Barber, of Minden, LA, Willie Singleton, Patricia Taylor, Diana Gilmore, Jeanette Gunter, Thomas Gunter, and Joann Hill, all of Eastover, SC; nine grandchildren, including her granddaughter and caregiver (a special thank you to her), Theronda Murray; a host of other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
