Mr. William Bill Couthry, Jr. was born on December 31, 1950, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the oldest child of the late William Couthry, Sr. and Earline Merkerson. He departed this life on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

 

He was educated in the Richland County Public Schools. He attended C. A. Johnson High School. He received his diploma from adult education in 1974. He was drafted into the United States Army. After his tour of service, he was employed by the William Dorn Jennings V. A. Hospital for twenty-eight years. After retirement from the V. A., he was employed by S.O.S. Security. He also served as director of the Man Up Ministry of Winnsboro, South Carolina. He enjoyed music, fishing, and golf.

 

Bill was preceded in death by: his parents, William Couthry, Sr., and Earline Merkerson.

 

Mr. William Bill Couthry, Jr. leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, of 51 years, Jo Cynthia Couthry; one sister, Patricia Merkerson; two sons, Dennis (LaShawn) Ervin and Daniel (Wanda) Ervin, all of Columbia, South Carolina; two adopted grandsons, Knowledge Green and Phenomenal Brown, of the home; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and caring friends.

Grandpa I love you I hope your in paradise up there you kept god with and meet you and your time came I miss you with all my Heart I can say this enough death is just another generation moving up and it hurts but it stays with you that you must go one day this isn’t our home or where we’re supposed to be I love you grandpa fly high 🕊❤️

  8. Bill and I worked together at SOS Security. A good person with a good spirit. I enjoyed working and talking with him. May the grace of God comfort his family and love ones during this time of great loss. He will be greatly missed.
