  3. Dr. Brackett was my mentor. She was one of the best college professors at SCSU who held us to very high expectations, while demonstrating what she expected. We later served together on the education committee with the NAACP.

My prayers are with the family.

  6. To: Derrick, Dawn and the Brackett and Snelling Families, we too will truly miss Sherill and Nolan. They were oustanding people to have as friends. Trust God and let’s make ready our soles to meet them at the Rapture.
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorn for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people and God Himself shall be with them, and be there God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the formal things are passed away.

  10. To the Brackett family.

I want to express my heartfelt sympathy for loss of your parents.

Sherrill and Nolan together in life and death. A loving couple.

I had the privileged to know Sherill and Nolan for a number of years.
They would attend our Club-24 Social Club meetings,as guest of existing members and later joined as members, themselves.
They blended in and made an immediate impact.
Sherill served as Vice-president and Nolan as Chairman of the Scholarship Committee.

The focus of the Club is for entertainment among the membership, while contributing to worth-while chartiable organizations.

The Bracketts, were masterful in spreading love and joy amongst family and friends, through entertaining.

They both shared some of the same attributes, kindness, friendly, Considerate, pleasant, likeable, polite, cheerful and other good qualities.

I would like to say to the family. We share in your loss.
To have known Sherill and Nolan, we to became friends, Brothers, Sisters as club members.

I know this a difficult time in your lives now. The days ahead is full with tears and sorrows.

Call and lean on God, for comfort.

You will have the fond memories of Sherill and Nolan to carry on.

  11. Sending love to the Brackett and Snelling family. Praying for you all during this time of grief and as you move forward in the years to come. Vivian (as I knew her in high school) was always very friendly and popular and always greeted each person with a smile. That smile and positive attitude led to a successful career as an educator and carried throughout later years as we would meet at various conferences and other events. She touched many lives and left positive impressions as a teacher and professor. Many were motivated by her and will remember her impact because a teacher touches a life forever.
She and Nolan were like two peas in a pod. They seemed to love and cherish each other to the end.
May they both Rest in Peace in the arms of Jesus.πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ™πŸΎπŸ™πŸΎ

  23. To Dawn & Derrick & the Grands, we extend our Heartfelt Condolences to all of the family. Knowing Sherrill and Nolan and having them in our lives was truly a God Send. They were the most generous and welcoming people we had the pleasure of meeting during our time here in Columbia. Sherrill was a Tuskegee Alum along with my husband George Baker and they both were surprised they were part of some of the same circles. Remembering those Tuskegee days brought them both joy and to include Nolan and myself in the conversation made it even more special because Nolan and George also had something in common; they both LOVED JAZZ.

Rest Well My Friends and Know that God will say “Job Well Done”; you will always be with us. Thank you for making us part of your family, expanding our circle of friends and Thank You again for the many people you and Nolan brought together in your lifetime.

  30. Derrick,Dawn,John Butler and Grandchildren. I am saddened to hear of the passing of my cousin Sherill and her husband Nolan. Nolan was always like a brother and always kept me laughing. Sherrill’s Grandmother and my Grandmother were sisters so we always liked to reminisce about the two and favorably referred to them as Aun-nee. I am going to miss our Long telephone conversations. Please know that you all are in my prayers.

  31. Dawn and Derrick, there are no words to express how deeply saddened I am to learn of the passing of your mother and father.
My memories will always be of how she loved to make you feel welcome in her home. Memories of the warmth and graciousness she and Nolan made you feel on each occasion (Christmas Dinner, New Year’s Day Dinner, Lake house Cookout or Bridge Party) Sherrill loved life and she loved sharing it with her friends. I will always remember her smile, her “wit”, and her great love of family.
Dawn and Derrick please be comforted by the loving warmth of memories of your parents. May the light of love they gave you daily radiate in your hearts as you travel through your grief. Those we love are never really lost to us – their special love lives on and on forever.

  35. Though we are deeply saddened that our dear friend is no longer physically in our presence, the angels in heaven are rejoicing. The beautiful, new angel, known as Dr. Vivian S. Brackett (Sherill), will soon, lovingly, have them visiting and feasting with her and Nolan in their new heavenly home.

Sherill loved making others feel welcome and happy, lavishly and frequently in their home. Memories of her warmth and graciousness will be treasured.

To the family. please be comforted in knowing that Sherill and Nolan are resting peacefully in God’s care. May God’s peace be with you and keep you strong now and always. Please be assured that we are here for you. Sherill will be missed, but not forgotten, she will remain in our hearts.

  36. Dawn and Derrick , sincere condolences are extended to you during this difficult time. Your dad was my husband’s classmate ( Benedict College ’65’). Your mom was my bridge club member, DST sorority and Red Hatter sister, but most of all my friend. She would always remind those of us who gathered at your home that we were her friends. I am glad that God put her in my life almost 50 years ago. She was kind, loving and caring. Family meant a lot to her. She loved you and the grands deeply. I will always cherish fond memories of both Sherrill and Nolan. Trust God for he is the ultimate comforter. I will continue to lift you all in prayer πŸ™.

  37. Sherrill will truly be missed from the voice on the phone saying, “hello friend, making joy during the pandemic of putting goodies on the porch then returning to her car before one opens the door. The Fabulous white Club Twenty Four party. New Year Day Dinners, Dinner just to get together, Playing Bridge, lake house cook outs, Red Hatter’s Events, as a dedicated educator and other activities to get people mixing and mingling. Sherrill loved life and people and made each person feel special. Sherrill spoke frequently about her country life and regarded her upbringing as a stepping stone to what she became, Dr. Vivian Brackett. A job well done and thank you for allowing me to be your friend.
