God gives peace that surpass all understanding. The first thing that comes to my mind is “Cowboy is a legend “the impact that he made on baseball was phenomenal during the time that he played. The impact that he made on me the first time I met him. I understood who he was and what he stood for. It reminded me of my dad. So sorry to hear of “Cowboy” passing. He was a close family friend whom I’ve had the privilege of knowing for over forty years. As a young boy I remember his love for dogs, Akita in particular. Rest in Heaven Cowboy.

Although “Cowboy” was definitely a much more superior baseball player than I it was such a pleasure to be on the same baseball field with him. I have known James Atterbury since the 1960s. He was married to my cousin, Elease and we all called him “COWBOY”. He was a very good and outstanding baseball player. The last time I saw him, he was pushing his mother down the aisle of Bethlehem Baptist Church. I remember when he was engaged to my cousin, her father, Deacon Willie Kennedy had them both in Bible Study at the house, as they prepared for marriage. I was very please to see him become active in the church Blessings on the Atterbury Family. May he enjoy the heavenly reward God has promised to us all.
