Besides Dr Rivers, Ms McDonald is the main reason I continued to sub at Heyward. She was tough be really a softie. I’ll forever cherish sitting and talking trash with the Ole crew in the cafeteria. She’d always slip me seconds.

  7. Ms. Debbie McDonald was such a jewel who loved the students, staff and other stakeholders at Heyward Career and Technology Center. She was always willing to volunteer around the school, and her caring personality made visitors feel welcomed. I served as her principal for many years, and she was near and dear to my heart. 10. Family: With heart felt condolences, I’m so sorry for your loss. I met Debbie when we were in college. As we moved forward, I lost contact with her and one day I was over at Heyward Career Center. I was so happy to see her. We only talked for a little while about family and life. She talked about her daughter and how far we all have come. When I read that she had passed, I was sad because we both work for Richland District One. I will miss Debbie. She was a joy to be around.

  11. Mrs. Debbie,
Our family has been truly being an amazing blessing to our family. We know that we will see her again in heaven. We are so very grateful for the time that we got to spend with her. She is walking with our Lord and Savior. She lit up a room and reflected the Love of Christ. She will be truly missed. We love you from Jason, Amy, Grayson, Elias, and Mathias Sabol.

  14. Sending my condolences to miss Debbie’s family. She was such a beautiful kind lady, who I started calling Mom! I was so fortunate to meet her and hear her voice a lot of evenings when me and Donisha became real close friends! She could feel bad and if you were feeling bad at the same time she would always worry about you. She loved her Sports and her favorite TV shows, but more than that she loved her family and friends! I’m going to miss her and her cheerful personality! My prayers will forever continue for the family! She will always be here in our hearts!

  23. I tell people the story of how Ms. Debbie was one of my biggest cheerleaders when she’d see me working late in my office finishing my dissertation. She had such a beautiful spirit and her support meant so much. We even kept in touch after I left USC for a new job in another state. My heart goes out to her family. She will be deeply missed

  24. Ms. McDonald brought such a delightful a demanding atmosphere to Heyward Career Center’s code of conduct. Her role as ISS supervisor, cafeteria manager, and the many other hats she wore at Heyward, doesn’t give justice to the warm-hearted kind, and generous person Ms. McDonald really was. The family, friends, and district has lost a remarkable jewel in Ms. McDonalds’s departure.

  27. Debbie,

I still cannot believe it. I am still in total shock. We just talked on Mother’s Day and had a long conversation and we also discussed about us getting together soon. Debbie, this so hard for me. I think about the days at Webster University when were both going for our Masters, we took all of our classes together, we studied together and we pushed through to achieve our goal of obtaining a Master Degree. I am really going to miss you so much!! I spoke with your daughter yesterday and like I told her your family has my deepest sympathy.

  36. Ms. Debbie was such a sweet person, and I very much enjoyed her common sense advice and good humor when I saw her during my late afternoons and early evenings at USC. She went out of her way to introduce herself when I first started at USC, and always reminded me to “pack up and go home to my family” during those late working days. I will miss her so much, and wish many blessings onto her family during this difficult time.
