Truly a woman who had a passion for teaching with discipline. An everlasting impact on those she taught. Forever Mrs Manigo’s legacy will live on.
Monica and family! I have MANY fond memories of this Woman of God and dedicated Educator! As pre-teens, Monica and I would take piano lessons from the late great John Britt, Jr.! While at piano lessons, Sister Manigo would be grading her students papers or knitting while hearing us kids practice classical pieces! Later in life, I witnessed your dedication at Gill Creek Baptist Church! Thanks so much for being a woman of substance and wisdom! The world 🌎 is a better place because of YOU! Prayers for the family as you keep her legacy alive!
Sending condolences to the family. Soror 🫷🩷💚🫸 Manigo was a wonderful person. She gave me a lot of advice during my pledging days. A person that definitely earned her wings in heaven. Prayers of strength, peace and understanding to the family during this difficult time.—Karen (Wallace) Madison-Walker
Monica & family,
I dearly loved Bernice. She was a joy to teach with at Columbia High. She entertained and enlightened us in the Social Studies work area.
Her love of teaching, sharing her knowledge of life with the students, her sense of humor, and her love of the Lord and her family were just a few of the things I loved about her. I can’t be with you at her funeral, but please know I’m praying for y’all.
Cousin Bernice was one of the classiest women I ever had the joy of being around. She leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and so many other amazing attributes. I will always treasure all the times spent around her especially in my earlier years. My condolences to Monica, Darius, and the rest of the Manigo family. Farewell and a peaceful journey to our sweet “Ivy Beyond the Wall.”
My condolences to the family. I know it must be hard losing both parents in less than a year.
Bernice was a loyal member of the National Association of University Women Columbia Branch when she was able.
“May she rest in Peace”
Mrs. Manigo my favorite teacher! She taught us scripture everyday. Her favorite verse with a twist was: “Lord I stretch my hands to thee, there’s no other help I know… Imma hurt these Vanilla and Chocolate children if they don’t do right. She was the GOAT and will be missed. She touch so many students at Columbia High.
Prayers to the manigo & Johnson family. You will truly be missed. We send our condolences from Zarcola Yarbrough, Regina Nelson & Myra Colman
Sister Bernice’s dear family members and close friends,
May the God of all comfort bless you with His comfort and peace in your time of bereavement. We extend our deepest, heart-felt condolences to you.
We always knew Sister Bernice to have a sweet, kind, and loving disposition when we worshipped with the dear sister and her kind husband, Brother Clyde, at Ridgewood Baptist Church.
May your fond memories of her wonderful and loving legacy serve to add joy to your comfort in the coming days.
May your comfort and peace in the Lord God abound.
Monica,
Draw near to God… for He is ready even now to offer you His comfort and love.
We extend our sincere sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your Mother.
Our condolences to the family. Mrs. Bernice was truly a genuine person. Her knowledge, wit and enthusiasm will always be remembered. May you find comfort in God’s love in the days ahead.
Sister in Christ, friend in deed, co-worker at Columbia High School, and genuine lady of grace, will be sorely missed, but remembered with a smile for her unique way of communicating in each of the previously identified roles.
Monica and family, you have my deepest condolences. I greatly appreciated and respectfully have often thought of your mother with a heartfelt gratitude for all of the conversations, instructions, and laughter we have shared. I loved her and she knew I did; I will find solace in that knowledge. I am praying with and for you,
Minister Dr. Mary O. Stover
She was such a beautiful, kind and professional teacher. I learned so much from her.
My deepest condolences and prayers are with the family. 🙏🏾
Mrs. Manigo was a great role model and teacher at Colleton High School in Walterboro.
Mrs. Manigo was one of my favorite teachers, too! In our psychology class at our dear Colleton High School, Walterboro, there was never, ever a question left unanswered or not sufficiently explained. When sensitive questions came her way from naive students who wanted facts, she would say, “close your books”, and begin to teach… explain… clarity… without hesitation!
I give God the praise for this precious gift, a bold warrior of the Most High God, who touched countless lives for His Glory!
My sincere condolences for a faithful servant. Mrs Manigo service made a great impact on the Gill Creek family. May you be comforted by our thoughts and prayers for a life well served for the Master.

Mrs. Manigo was one of the most eloquent, elegant teachers who ever taught me. She not only taught us the curriculum, but she also taught her female students how to be young ladies. Mr. and Mrs. Manigo were truly missed when they left Colleton County. I will never forget them. Prayers and condolences to the family.
Although Mrs Manigo was not my instructor at Colleton High School she left a undeniable impression upon me her sternest and attention to detail was ever present her Husband was my Baseball Coach and after trying out and receiving a role in my High Senior Play I decided that I didnt want to give up playing time for Baseball and was afraid to tell her.
Our heartfelt condolences to the Manigo family. Keep looking to the hills.
I am heart broken. Mrs. Manigo was such a wonderful person and teacher. When you think of Columbia High, you think of Mrs. Manigo. She was one of the few teachers who touched your heart and left an indelible mark. One in a million!!! Get your rest precious lady.

“Mama” Manigo was a legend at CHS! I became a Capital when she retired and I was hired full-time in her position. She often gave advice the last year, when I was there part-time. She visited some after retirement and it was always a treat to see her. The Social Studies workroom was named in her honor when she retired. So blessed to have known her. My condolences to her family, related and Capitals.
Ms Manigo was a very nice lady and teacher at CHS. I am from the class of 1990 and I had her for world geography (honors)in 9th grade. I will always remember her as being a very articulate teacher who was always very knowledgeable of current events . The world has lost a skinning star……….
Mrs. Manigo was a beautiful lady, with a kind heart, helping hand, always had an encouraging word and the epitome of a “help meet” for man.
May you be comforted by our sincere thoughts and prayers.
Mrs. Manigo (Momma Manigo) was one of my favorite teachers at Columbia High School (class of 88). She gave us students tough unconditional love. Never a dull moment in her class. Heaven has gained a wonderful angel. Love always.
Mrs. Manigo was one of my favorite teachers at CHS. She expected greatness from us and accepted nothing less. She was tough on us, but more importantly she showed us unconditional love. I can only hope to be as loved and respected as an educator one day. My condolences to her family.
