  4. Condolences to your family. I shall forever cherish our time together as part of SHS c/o ’73. You were an exemplary leader as our class president. Your presidency served to begin the bridge toward racial reconciliation at SHS and of the city of Sumter. I am comforted by the scripture, Revelation 21:4. Those that sleep in the Lord will arise again when Jesus comes. For now, rest from your labors. May your family and love ones experience the peace that only God affords. Blessings.

  12. Ben, You will be missed by everyone in the Morgan McClure organization. You were a great friend and mentor to us all and you were a part of our family. I never met anyone that genuinely cared about us the way you did. You were truly special. I will forever be grateful for everything you did for us and all of your help. Thank You for being such a great friend to my father. He thought the world of you. I will never forget that big smile and your contagious laugh. Never will there be anyone quite like you and your memory will live on with us forever. Prayers for your family. I will see you again some day my friend.

  17. Along life’s way we meet many people, a small segment of which are classified true friends. Ben was in that small group and I throughly enjoyed working with Ben, talking with him at random moments about a myriad of topics. The conversations were always enjoyable and up lifting (as was Ben’s entire spirit.) This loss certainly has left a hole in my heart.

To Bernice, although I never had the pleasure of meeting you in person, I can attest that Ben spoke so highly of you and I know you had a very special relationship. I wish for you comfort during this most difficult time and know that you and other family are in our hearts and prayers. God be with you.

  19. To the family of Ben (Benton), My words cannot express the feelings of gratitude and love that I have for Ben. He was a mentor and one of the most loyal, loving men that I have encountered in my entire life. His faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ was first and foremost in his daily walk. His love for his family and friends was also always apparent. He helped me find peace and a place in my heart for my relationship with a loving God and also helped me back up on my feet professionally. He taught me to put my relationship with God first, my Family and others second, and Myself third, and better yet he showed me time and time again that if I stuck to that, my life would remain full of purpose and love and of the two Love would be the most important. I will miss my friend, but I also know in my heart that we will be together again. Thank you Benton for leaving your mark here in this world and for solidifying my path to what lays ahead.
