  3. I’m reminded of Isaiah 61:3, where God calls his people “Oaks of righteousness,” planted for His glory, representing stability, deep roots, and endurance during difficult times. Wail, other trees in the gardens, a mighty “oak tree” has fallen.

  4. Our love and condolence to the Dowdy family. Mrs. Evelyn Dowdy was my son’s Guidance Counselor at Hopkins Middle School. She was very compassionate about her work and it showed. She was caring and very patient. I always enjoyed speaking with her about my son’s progress reports, because she had such a caring spirit. I know you all will miss her but her memories will always be with you.

  5. My sincere condolences to the Dowdy family. Mrs Dowdy was a beautiful person and she will be greatly missed. I will never forget her helping me find the recipe to bake my first ever cake. It was for my mom’s birthday and she was also battling breast cancer. The cake turned out to be absolutely delicious and I now have my own baking business. I am forever grateful.

  6. I was deeply saddened to hear of Mrs. Dowdy’s passing. You were truly a remarkable woman—graceful, compassionate, and full of genuine kindness. Your presence brought warmth to every room, and it is difficult to recall a time when you were not greeting others with a bright smile and gentle, encouraging words.

Beyond your dedication to education and uplifting those around you academically, what stood out most was your unwavering faith. You lived as a kind, God-fearing woman, and your love for the Lord was evident in how you treated others—with patience, humility, and a servant’s heart. You did not just speak about your faith—you walked in it daily, allowing it to guide your actions, your relationships, and your purpose.

Mrs. Dowdy was also a true pillar of her family. The love she had for her children and grandchildren was unmistakable, and she poured into them not only care and support, but also strong values rooted in faith, integrity, and love. Her legacy will continue to live on through each of them—in their character, their strength, and their devotion to one another.

While she will be deeply missed here, we find comfort in knowing that her life was well lived, her work was meaningful, and her spirit now rests in peace.

To Mr. Dowdy, Allyson, Allene, and the entire family, please accept my heartfelt condolences. I am lifting each of you up in prayer, asking for strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time. Please know that I am here for you—whether by phone, text, or email—whenever you need support.

I love you all, and you remain in my thoughts and prayers.

  30. It has truly been a pleasure and a joy to care for and work with your family for nearly two years. I will always remember the love that filled your home. Like how warmly you welcomed family and friends, and the tender way you and your husband looked after one another, always making sure the other was okay. That kind of love is special and beautiful to witness.

I will also remember the joy on Evelyn’s face whenever she saw her children and grandchildren. Her beautiful smile would light up the room and bring warmth to everyone around her.

May God bless and keep your family during this time. You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I pray that God gives you comfort, peace, and strength in the days ahead.
