My deepest sympathy and heartfelt love go out to the Dimery-Bar family and all of Lorraine’s loved ones.
Lorraine and I were friends first, and then sisters and sorors at Spelman College. From those early days, we shared a special bond—one that I cherished deeply and will carry with me always. We shared our similarities, secrets, laughter, respect for one another, loyalty and friendship.
Lorraine was kind, intelligent, poised, graceful, and absolutely beautiful—inside and out. She carried herself with such dignity and was always a lady in every sense of the word. She was truly a special person, and I feel blessed to have known her, loved her, and called her my friend and my sister.
Throughout the years, I consistently kept Lorraine in my prayers. Although my heart is heavy, I am grateful for the memories, the laughter, the secrets we shared, and the beautiful bond we had.
Lorraine, you are deeply missed and will never be forgotten. Love you, my dear Sister. May you rest peacefully in God’s loving arms. ❤️
So sorry to hear of the passing of my Eta Kappa and Spelman sister. Lorraine and I became friends in 1985 after I returned to SC.
She was the most graceful lady I knew with a heart of gold!

Lorraine was my Home Econimics teacher at CE Murray High School (1980) and a professional friend.
He encouraged and motivated me to excel in my professional career.
She assisted my family with the funeral arrangements when we loss our mother in 2008.
I will always remember her kind and gentle spirit.

Lord she was like a mom to me slept in her bed many times me and my son was just like family to her. Nothing she had I couldn’t get. We shared so many McDonald’s together and browns bbq. I took her to church many times. She was a unique person and special. This is a tough pill to swallow for me. I’m devastated. She hired me at 17 years old and gave me a chance oh how imma miss her.

I cannot believe this. Friday, September 11, was the day that I went looking for Lorraine. Got the number of her sister, Kim, late that afternoon from Dimery-Rogers Funeral Home. Did not get to call it before this news hit. Lorraine was so smart, one of my really good math students at Kingstree Senior High. (At the time, I was called Mrs. Lifrage, recently graduated from Winthrop College.) She was in my top level math classes. Such a loss. Praying for all her family, friends, and former classmates at KSHS.

So sad to hear of Lorraine. We were a part of a group that shared most of the same classes each day. Lorraine had a grace and style even then. It was great to be with our group because we shared a passion to learn and grow. Already missing her.

I’m saddened to hear about the passing of my dear cousin. A lot of people didn’t know just how closely related we were. Lorraine’s grandmother Martherine McDowell and my grandmother Readis McDowell were sisters. I knew Lorraine all of my life and got to spend a lot of time with her especially during the period before she moved to Columbia. We had good times and we defended each other and at the same time, sometimes we cuss each other out, but always made up. We could do that to each other but no one else could. Blessings to Kim and her family and much thanks for taking care of your sister in the manner that you did. Lorraine had a very big and a very good heart; always willing to help someone else. You have been and will be dearly missed cousin and memories of you will always be with me.

I first met Lorraine during our time working at then First National Bank of South Carolina and soon realized we had many friends in common and shared the same birthday and my Soror. She was the consummate professional and so graceful and beautiful. Rest well Lorraine.
Lorraine was the best funeral Director in Williamsburg County. Her smile lit up a room and in that same room she would greet everyone in it. Such a beautiful and humble person. You will be missed Lorraine. Thank you for all that you’ve done for families around the state of SC, including my own.

My condolences to the Dimery – Barr family. As children, Lorraine and I visited each other when her mother and my aunt got together. I will always cherish the fond memories that developed from our friendship.
Praying peace to the Dimery family. If you grew up in KIngstree, you knew the Dimeries, and they were well known statewide. But here in KIngstree, they were celebrities. Lorraine and I attended the same high school. I was privileged to be invited to her birthday parties, and the first time I had pizza was at her house. Sleep well, my childhood friend, You were a princess, and heaven has gained a sweet angel.

Lorraine was a member of the SCMA Inc and National Funeral Service Associations before her health became an issue. Lorraine’s father, Mr. Johnny Dimery, was a founding father and powerhouse in this Association. Lorraine would attend State Conventions with her father and continued this practice after his demise. We who knew her and the Dimery family are saddened. Lorraine participated in the Ladies Auxiliary and other things when needed. May God continue to comfort you during this time of sorrow.

Lorraine .. our moms got together when pregnant and decided that because we were only children we would grow up together. My childhood memories full of us running back and forth to each others homes, do overnighters, going on family vacations and shopping trips together. Your mom was one of a kind and truly treated me like her daughter. How could I have ever have imagined this day as we so innocently laid in twin beds as teenagers talking all night, imagining our futures and confessing our secrets as teenagers everywhere do? Time, distance and life experiences took us in different directions, but they can never erase those times and the firm foundation from which we sprung. Rest in power and peace… my departed Sister.
