Mrs. Stroman was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, class of 1969. While at Booker T. Washington, she was a member of Future Teachers of America, the marching band, voted Miss Marching 100, a national thespian, and an athlete on the tennis team. Mrs. Stroman held various positions in Richland County School District One, the U.S. Census Bureau, and the Red Cross. She was an entrepreneur at heart, and started several companies. Her ability as a salesman was second to none.

She was a minister of the gospel and attended various churches in the Columbia area over the years of her Christian life. She was baptized in her youth at Gilbert Memorial Baptist Church. Years later, after completing her theological studies, she preached her trial sermon in October 2002, at Temple of God A.M.E. Zion Church. Her final church home before moving to New York was Right Direction Church International in Columbia, SC. While living in Queens, NY, she attended The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York.

Mrs. Stroman was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Kenneth Davis, Sr.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Woodrow B. Stroman III, of Columbia, SC; daughter Stacy (Dominic) Jones, of Columbia, SC; sister, Blanche Rane’ Goodwin, of Columbia, SC; brother, Ronald (Ann) Davis, of Columbia, SC; and sister-in-law, Rosa Mae Davis, two grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other loving relatives, and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

  15. To the family of Carolyn D. Stroman: Not many of us “Red Cross” people from the original Shirley Street location are still around these days. I can remember Carolyn’s strong work ethics and a solid family life. Be blessed to know that these things (even back then) were the foundation of a successful life she lived. You all have my condolences.
