Deacon Barry Keith Conelly was born November 10, 1962, in Bamberg County, South Carolina. He was the oldest son of Dorothy O. Conelly and Reverend William Conelly. He peacefully departed this life, with his family at his side, on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at the Prisma Health Richland-Heart Hospital.
Deacon Conelly was educated in the public schools of Bamberg County, South Carolina. He graduated from Denmark-Olar High School, Class of 1980. He continued his education by earning an Associate’s Degree in Business from Denmark Technical College, and a B. S. in Business Administration from Voorhees College. Deacon Conelly was formerly employed at Midlands Technical College, for more than 24 Years. Most recently, Deacon Conelly was a part-time driver for Advance Auto Parts.
Deacon Conelly was baptized at an early age, and joined his home church, Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, in Olar, South Carolina. Brother Conelly was ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of the late Pastor W.S. Walker in 1997. Deacon Conelly worked faithfully in the church and many ministries including: the Sunday School, Ushers, Brotherhood, and Deacons, to name a few. In 2007, Deacon Conelly and his family moved their membership to the Brookland Baptist Church, in West Columbia, South Carolina. Brother Conelly was an active, faithful, and dedicated member of several ministries including: Ushers, Couples for Christ, and Men’s Day. Brother Conelly enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. He always reverenced God, by saying, “Giving Honor to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and always talking about and watching his favorite NFL team, The Las Vegas Raiders.
Deacon Conelly was preceded in death by: his father, Reverend William Conelly.
Deacon Barry Keith Conelly is survived by: his wife of almost 29 years, Mrs. Teresa Davenport Conelly; a son, Clayton R. Lowden, of Orangeburg, South Carolina; a daughter, Mia C. Conelly, of the home; mother, Dorothy O. Conelly, of Denmark, South Carolina; a granddaughter, Arianna J. Lowden, of Orangeburg, South Carolina; three siblings, Irishstene Conelly and Vanessa Conelly, both of Denmark, South Carolina, and Terry Conelly, of Irmo, South Carolina; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reverend Charles W. Davenport, Sr. and Mrs. Jannette H. Davenport, of Batesburg, South Carolina; three brothers-in-law, Gerald Anderson, of Barnwell, South Carolina, Robert High, Jr., and Charles W. Davenport, Jr., both of Orangeburg, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Charlene D. High, of Orangeburg, South Carolina and LaTonya Conelly, of Irmo, South Carolina; four nieces and nephews, Brice D. High, Chalea V. High, Jania E. Conelly, and Terry (T.J.) Conelly, Jr.; a host of other loving family, friends, and co-workers, all of whom will miss him dearly.
