  2. Sending my deepest condolences to you, Kim, and the Mitchell family. I got to know Barry at New Hope and we became friends. He was a mans mans and had a since of humor that kept us laughing. When our crew left New Hope we all continued to meet for lunch, once a month and I miss those days. I talked with Barry after his illness and all he talked about was how good God has been to him. So I know he is resting in heaven. He is missed. I pray for strength in the Lord during this time for you and your family. Proverbs 3:5-6.

  15. My condolences to Barry’s wife, family and friends. I too worked with Mitchell, as we called him, at the Detention Center. I learned a lot from him. He is part of the reason I made it as far as I did in my career. He was always straight forward, professional and funny. I will always remember him as the man that climbed the fence with me to keep a kid from escaping and how he could sleep standing up. 😂 and not miss a beat. Barry Mitchell, there will not be another like you.
    Sleep in peace.

  18. My Condolences to the Mitchell family. I had the unique pleasure of working with Mr. Mitchell at DJJ. Truly, he was one of a kind! But he was my friend. To know him was to love him or not. Love him or hate him, Barry was still going to be Barry. He was a dedicated professional and worked wholeheartedly with some difficult young adults. I couldn’t wait to get to work daily because I knew that he would be there and opinionated he was. Point and counterpoint would continue throughout the entire day because neither of us wanted to concede the debate. Barry and I had a special bond and a wonderful friendship built upon respect for one another. I have missed our serious conversations since I have retired. God has decided that it’s time for you to come home to Him my friend. Rest in peace my brother! Know that I love you my friend but God loves you so much more.

  19. To Know Barry . You Couldn’t But Love 💜 Him Or Not Like Him. He Was A Straight Forward Guy. He Tell You The Truth And If You Couldn’t Handle It Oh Well . You Just Have To Get Over It And Move On. He Will Be Truly Missed. I Last Talk With Him On The Phone 📞 On July 12, 2022. And He Was In Good Spirit. My Prayers To His Wife Kim. And All Connected To Him. May God’s Peace Be With Y’all.

I was not aware of his illnes, but I want I want Mrs. Mitchell and his family to know that my thoughts are with them during this time of loss. I am hospitalized myself presently and will not be able to attend his service. However, my prayers will be with you.
