Mr. Courtney Pauling was born on August 31, 1987. He was the oldest son born to Nancy Pauling and the late LeRoy Hayward, Jr. He departed this life on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

Mr. Courtney Pauling, aka Spody Rody, was educated in the public schools of Richland County in South Carolina, where he obtained his GED. Spody Rody, as people would call him, was a man who was big on family and loyalty. If he associated himself with you, all he asked in return was to be loyal to him. He even named his godson, Loyal. He was a fan of the Atlanta Falcons, enjoyed making music, spending time with friends and family, and loved his mama and brothers very much. Courtney Pauling will be truly missed.

Mr. Courtney Pauling was preceded in death by: his father, LeRoy Hayward, Jr.; two grandmothers, Irene Pauling and Johnnie Bell Hayward; an aunt, Jacqueline Pauling; and an uncle, John Quaterpoud Hayward.

Mr. Courtney Pauling leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Nancy Pauling; three brother, Martell Pauling, Christopher Woodard, and TyRice Banks; grandfather, LeRoy Hayward, Sr.; two nieces, Re’ani Banks and Kei’Nyiah Davis; three aunts, Patricia Pauling, Marlena and Marilyn Hayward; an uncle, Joseph Jo Hayward; great-aunt, Evelyn Pauling, all of Columbia, SC; best friend of 10 plus years, Todd Harrison; a godson, Loyal Harrison; good friend of 7 years, Darrius Carson, all of Spartanburg, SC; a host of extended family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

  2. My first baby. I was pregnant with my first child when you came into this world and things didn’t work out b/c my child decided that the timing wasn’t right. Courtney you were there to keep me in my right mind the love I have for you will never end. The young man you have grown to be was on a higher level of consciousness and that level of knowledge came within. I’m not worried about anything because you came here for one reason and you accomplished that. When a man know thyself he can conquer anything. Live on my love because we don’t believe in death
