  5. To the Richardson and Barnette family, there are no words to express my sympathy to you.

I know I have lost a neighbor and a friend that will never be replace. The Richardson family became my family after I moved into the neighborhood. Mr Eli started the community organization. He seen a need for it. He build a foundation for others to build on. He had great qualities he shared to make this community a better place..

I feel Mr. Eli is at peace with the Lord. We can rest as the great artist Angie Stone said (the rain has come and it’s all dried out there no more rain in his cloud).

    Rest In Peace

  9. Pop,
Your lasting impact is immeasurable.. from your service in the Army, a Bachelors in Biology, proud HBCU alum, a science teacher, Federal employee 30 years, your SACRIFICE & FIGHT in the Civil Rights Movement/ Voting Rights & EQUALITY. You marched, petitioned, withstood the tribulations of injustice with grit and fervor! It is because of you I can be who I am. A BLACK woman, in STEM, who can VOTE, go to COLLEGE, & ACHIEVE steps you & grandma sacrificed for us. I miss you and I Love You!!

    Love Always your Granddaughter Kristen

  11. Thinking reverenty of the family of Mr. Eli Richardson and the many memories he and Mrs. Richardson left the Columbia community as “0mighty warriors,” true to the cause of justice & equality for all of mankind during their many active years in the Columbia Branch NAACP.

They were indeed a “Power couple” who worked in tandem, day in and day out, making a difference in the lives of South Carolinians over the many years of their political & community activism.
My memory was then & still remains , of their consistent & daily efforts as they worked to make a difference in our daily lives. And what an impact they made for the many countless days on their journey to glory land.
I shall forever revere the lives of Mr. Eli Richardson & his helpmate , Mrs. Viola Richardson and their life works as the ” fearless warriors” they were for so many years of their earthly sojourn!
To God be the Glory as he rest in peace and power & they now reside together again!
