Mr. Emmett Carlton Cooper, III was born on October 29, 1973, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the only child of Ms. Annie Mae Jones Cooper and Sgt. Emmett Carlton Cooper, Jr. He departed this life on Friday, July 9, 2021. Mr. Cooper was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina, and graduated from C. A. Johnson High School, Class of 1992. He continued his education with an Associate’s degree from Midlands Technical College and Fortes Technical College in heating and air. He worked as an equipment technician for Tar Heel Capital. Mr. Cooper was baptized at an early age, and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church of Woodford, Inc., in North, South Carolina. He also enjoyed traveling, movies, and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by: his father, Sgt. Emmett Carlton Cooper, Jr.; grandfather, Emmett Carlton Cooper, Sr., grandmother, Mattie L. Cooper; aunt, Mamie Cooper; uncle, James Cooper, grandfather, Willie Jones; grandmother, Evelina Jones; uncle, Willie Jones, Jr.; and aunts, Rosa L. Jones Mitchell and Bessie Jones McDaniel. Mr. Emmett Carlton Cooper, III leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Sonia Nelson Cooper; his mother, Annie Mae Jones Cooper; daughter, Breyonna Weeks; son, Emmett Carlton Cooper, IV; aunt, Pearline Jones Burrell; godmother, Dorothy L. Trapp; uncles, Raymond McDaniels and David Mitchell; cousins, Dephine Scott, Patricia McDaniel, Valerie Sease, Carl Clifton, Johnny Burrrell, Neal Burrell, and Eric Walker; father-in-law, Phillip Paul Nelson, Sr.; mother-in-law, Frances Ann Nelson; brothers-in-law, Vincent Nelson and Phillip Paul Nelson, Jr.; sister-in-law, Felicia Samantha Green Nelson; a host of other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
