James received his formal education in the South Carolina school system.

James was a devoted father of four daughters, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He also was a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather. He was affectionately known as Uncle Bubba, to his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Maggie Jordan; the mother of his two eldest daughters, Shirley Banks; three sisters, Agnes Banks, Mae Frances Irons, and Wilma Banks; two grandsons, Charles Lamb and Marquise Thompson; one brother-in-law, Richard Irons, Sr.; one nephew-in-law, Clarence Lawson;  one nephew, Richard Irons Jr.; one great-nephew, Wayne Baggett Jr.; one great-niece, Nakia Baggett; one great-great-niece, Latoya Lawson;  and two aunts, Hattie Patterson and Helen Benson.

Through his lifetime, James held several different jobs. But, his pride and joy came when he formed Cayce Concrete.  James stood proud in this business.  He took much pride in pleasing his customers. He was blessed to come in contact with many valued employees, but Wayne Jenkins was his friend and confidant.

James was a man of great stature, but his heart would truly melt for the love that he had for his family.  James was a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Clemson Tigers.

James will forever be remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and were close to him.
