I k own him as junior he was always in peace and stillness he didn’t talk much,but when he spoke it made u feel goodinside.I will miss my neighbor presence.He trained a 2 great legacy. Never heard nothing tainted said bout either one.zGod Bless u Brother now in Spirit.

I am gonna miss you, Mr. Mayers! My childhood neighbor! I will always cherish my nickname, “Merry-go-round”. I remember when you started calling me this. Lol You always was a comedian and acted like another uncle to me. Please give Mrs. Mayers a hug for me. We’re gonna be alright. You did a great job with your kids (Lenny and my bestie, Jessica). Job well done. We got this from here.

Our condolences, prayers and love to the Mayers family. I lived on Liberty Hill a couple of houses from the family . Leonard and Edwynna were our playmates . We were a village where everyone’s family were your family as well. Remembering Mrs.Lena, Mr. Robert,Bootsie, older handsome brother and of course lil Dee-Dee. May God comfort and keep during this most difficult time.
Dear Mayers Family:
I met Leonard many years ago as his family and mine lived off of Gervais St. (Liberty Hill & Tree St.)
Leonard and I met through a mutual friend, Larry Weston, who lived near him on Gervais St.
From that time, & beyond we all became fast friends through the ensuing years.
Our paths crossed regularly until we all graduated from HS. & went in different directions.
However, it was always so pleasant when we would encounter each other as we would go down “memory lane”.
Leonard was a great guy who I considered a dear friend.
Over the years, needless to say, we lost contact with each other. & that is certainly regrettable as I now write this tribute to a friend whose earthly sojourn has ended and he now abides in heavenly peace with our loving Savior.
May your memories of my friend continue to sustain you throughout this bereavement period and beyond this time.

From the 5th grade classroom to the battlefields of Vietnam and all the years that followed, Leonard, you were more than just my friend—you were my brother. We grew up side by side, shared youth, war, and life’s many trials, and through it all, you never wavered.
You had a way of showing up—literally. Many times, when I came home, you were already there, standing in my mother’s driveway before I even stepped out the car. Always calling to see what time I’d arrive. That was you—steadfast, loyal, present. The way you loved your family and friends was nothing short of extraordinary. You lived commitment. You were commitment.
I’m going to miss you, Leonard. More than most will ever know. “For the brother who is no longer here”… goodbye, Leonard.
This isn’t a memory that fades. This one, we carry home with us. It won’t die.
