Mr. Reginald Red Hill was born on December 23, 1946, to James and Susie Portee Hill, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the 4th born of their six children. He departed this life on Thursday, December 9, 2021.
He was a graduate of C. A. Johnson High School, where he played football and excelled in track and field. After high school, he served his country honorably in the US Army, where he proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He attended Midlands Technical College, where he studied Mechanical Drafting. He retired in 2008 as a construction foreman with Sam Temple’s Masonry.
Reginald married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia Harris. This union was blessed with three beautiful children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He loved being a Granddaddy! Reginald was known as an avid gardener with a love of lilies and any vegetables. He was also a big sports fans always rooting for the USC Gamecocks and the NY Giants. He was a neighborhood favorite with his warm smile, quick wit, and helpful heart.
Reggie was preceded in death by: both parents; his brothers, James Jimmy and Larry Hill; a son and daughter- in-law, Derald and Nichole Hill; and a brother-in-law, Elberee Gray, Sr.
Mr. Reginald Hill leaves to cherish his precious memory: his wife, Cynthia; son, Reginald Troy Hill, of Columbia SC; daughter, Sonja Hill (Derick) Armstrong, of Tampa FL; grandchildren, Tieanna Wells, of Fargo, GA, Derald Kenneth Hill II and Nylah-Rose Meagan Hill, both of Kissimmee, FL, and Sydney Gabrielle Armstrong, of Tampa FL; a great-grandson, Taylen Kenneth Sirmans, of Fargo GA; sister, Deloris Hill Johnson (James) Ward, of Atlanta, GA; brother, Irvin (Debra) Hill, of Atlanta GA; sister, Diana Hill Gray, of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

I am deeply saddened about the loss of my childhood friend. Please accept my sincere condolence on your loss. Reginald was one of my closest friends and will always be in my thoughts. He was a kind, compassionate and true gentleman. It was just a joy to simply be in his presence. I am so thankful that God allowed us to cross paths.
