t’s Time To Be Born…. Mr. Theoddis Thomason (affectionately called Teddy) was born June 10, 1939. He was the son of Mr. Okrie and Mrs. Geneva Bonds Thomason.
It’s Time To Live…Mr. Thomason grew up in Bedford, Virginia. He received his formal education there, graduating in the Class of 1958, from Susan G. Gibson High School. Teddy later moved to Yonkers, New York; there he met the love of his life, Earnesteen Preston. They were united in Holy Matrimony. Later, they made a home in Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Thomason was employed with the City of Columbia working as a Mechanic until his retirement in June 2001. Teddy enjoyed working in his yard, cutting grass, planting flowers, making sure that his yard work met his and others’ approval. Even after retirement, Teddy enjoyed working on his automobiles. Teddy enjoyed helping others even if he did not know you, he always offered by asking, “Do you need help?” He enjoyed being with and taking care of his grandchildren. They were the joy of his life.
It’s Time To Grieve…His wife, Mrs. Earnesteen Preston Thomason, preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his mother, Mrs. Geneva Bonds Thomason; his father, Mr. Okrie Thomason; and his stepson, Mr. Willie Lee Preston-Golston.
It’s Time To Die…. Mr. Thomason peacefully departed this life to begin his new journey with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, May 30, 2021, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital, in Columbia, SC.
It’s Time To Mourn……Those left to cherish his precious and loving memory are: three daughters, Anita and Shana Thomason, both of Columbia, South Carolina and Jennifer Kea, of Hampton, Virginia; one son, Jerome (Jessica) Thomason, of Dayton, Ohio; one brother, John Thomason, of Bedford, Virginia; one sister, Carolyn Keith, Bedford, of Virginia; a special nephew, Kareem Abdus-Salaam, of Bowie, Maryland; three sisters-in-law, Mildred (Ernest) Hart, Joyce Darby and Betty Davis, both Columbia, South Carolina; eleven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, all of whom loved him dearly.
