Mrs. Daisy Mae Montgomery Gladman

Mrs. Daisy Mae Montgomery Gladman was born March 4, 1938, in Columbia, SC. She was the second of three children and the only daughter born to Freddie and Catherine Chapman Montgomery. Daisy departed this life on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Daisy attended the Richland County public schools and graduated from C. A. Johnson High School. Daisy attended Benedict College, and earned her B. A. degree in Early Childhood Education, Class of 1960. Daisy taught in Sanderville, GA, Wrens, GA, and Norwood, GA. She also worked in Columbia, SC, where she retired from Gibbs Middle School. As a child, she was baptized and attended Second Nazareth Baptist Church, for over 60 years. She served as president of the Willing Workers and was a member of the Helping Hands Ministry. Daisy was an Eastern Star, a member of Cleopatra Chapter #240, where she served as Worthy Matron for five years. She also served as Ada Associate Conductress. Daisy served as District Deputy of District for four years. Daisy was married to her high school sweetheart, Ervin L. Gladman for 60 years. From this union, two children were born, Fredrick Dwayne (Anita) and Belitta Evette Gladman. Daisy loved to cook and invite her family over for dinner. She loved her flowers and hats. Daisy was preceded in death by: her father, Freddie Montgomery; mother, Catherine Chapman Montgomery; and two brothers, Thomas Freddie Montgomery and James “Jake” Montgomery. Mrs. Daisy Mae Montgomery Gladman leaves to cherish her loving and precious memory: her husband, Ervin L. Gladman; children, Frederick DeWayne (Anita) Gladman and Belitta Gladman, all of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, DeQuita, of Columbia, SC, Demetra, DeQuina, and Fredrick, of Charleston, SC, and Catherine, all of Columbia, SC; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Keyara, Khario, Jayce, Camryn, Kali, and Cialynn; three sisters-in-law; cousins, nieces, nephews, loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
