  1. Searching for the words … I have been around this family for years first as Goddaughter of the late Judge Mildred Weathers McDuffie and as a friend of Jean’s late sister, Arthuree Loney Ricks, who I had the pleasure of working with for years. They were my lunch buddies. Through this connection, I met sweet Jean. I was present at the funerals of their mother, their father, “Uncle Book”, Mildred, Arthuree and many others. I’m so sorry that I’m just learning of Jean’s passing. I’ll now add her to the list of the many dear Loney/Weathers family members I had the pleasure of meeting via Mildred and Arthuree via visits to Dalzell, SC. Sending love and prayers to the Loney/Weathers family.

  10. In moments like tbese it can be difficult to understand the why of it all. So many beautiful magical moments to remember. Treasures that will last a lifetime. Gifts of love given that stay embedded in all the hearts that knew here. A beautiful angel now intertwined within the very fibers of Heaven. She will always be with you…always. May you find comfort in this knowledge as you move forth to continue living the legacy she groomed.

The love of God is greater far than any of us will ever know. It is in this fashion we will find the comfort and mercy. So, the joy we share as we tarry here will provide moments of memories that will become Greater until He brings us together again.

Extending condolences and prayers to the family. She was a college friend because Allen and Benedict students took classes together. I also worked with her sister, Arthuree Ricks. Some of her family members also attended High Hills AME Church , Dalzell, SC where my late husband, Rev Dennis W, Broughton pastored. I shall always cherish our memories and friendship.
