Ms. Lillie Estelle Corley, 95, affectionally known as “Mick” entered this life on Saturday, February 27, 1926, and departed this life at her home in Irmo, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 10, 2021. She was the beloved daughter of the late Leathia Trapp Corley and Alfred Corley, Sr.
Ms. Corley was a lifelong and faithful member of Young’s Chapel A.M.E. Church, in Irmo, SC, where she was the Mother of the Church, at the time of her death. She was a member of the Missionary Society, Pulpit Aide, Senior Choir, and Stewardess Board, until her health began to decline.
Ms. Corley was employed with Richland-Lexington School District Five, as a cafeteria worker for 30 years before retiring. Her favorite hobbies were: sewing, quilting, and cooking, especially baking. She also loved to grow flowers. In recent years, Ms. Corley enjoyed attending the Senior Day Program at Seven Oaks Recreational Center, where she enjoyed playing Bingo.
Ms. Corley was preceded in death by: her parents, Mrs. Leathia and Mr. Alfred Corley, Sr.; brothers, Mr. Robert Curtis Corley, Sr., Mr. Alfred Corley, Jr., and Mr. Henry Corley; sisters, Mrs. Agnes Bell, Mrs. Carrie Johnson, and Ms. Elvira Portee; sons-in-law, Mr. Alonzo Richardson, Sr. and Mr. John Larry Geiger. Ms. Lillie Corley will be deeply missed.
Ms. Lillie Estelle Corley leaves to cherish her precious memory: four children, Mrs. Margaret Richardson, of Hopkins, SC, Mrs. Brenda Geiger, of Irmo, SC, Ms. Phyllis Coleman, of Columbia, SC, and Mr. Lawrence (Cheryl) Coleman, of Irmo, SC; a grandson, Mr. Russell Keisler, reared as a son, of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Isaac, of Columbia, SC and Mrs. Helen (Floyd) Joyner, of Wilmington, DE; niece, Ms. Louise Scott, who was reared in the home as a sister, of Philadelphia, PA; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, caring relatives, church family, and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
