  4. Dear Family,
    We loved Joyce and we are truly blessed that she was a part of our lives. She and Kathy were my babysitters. Over the years, it was so wonderful to always see her, see her smile and feel her embrace. She never missed a funeral or a family function and it was always good to see her smile – it made things better. You will remain in our prayers and she will remain a special part of us and her legacy will live on in our hearts.

  11. To the family of my dear friend Joyce Cooper Jones. Joyce and I met on the campus of Benedict College. At that time, we didn’t know we had become friends for life. We spent time together just a few weeks before. We had such a wonderful time; catching up, reminiscing of past times and looking forward to our future. She was so very proud of her beautiful daughters. I will always cherish our time together. In My Father’s house are many mansions (dorm rooms)… I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again…; that where I am, there you may be also. See you on te other side, my friend.

  12. Our sincere condolences on the loss of your dearly beloved mother. She is a light that will forever shine on within our family. I recall the day I met your mother, as she came to our neighborhood to view a house that you were considering. being your next-door neighbor, I introduced myself to her. She explained you were looking to move to a new home and within seconds her warm smile and charm captured my heart. I am so glad that I was able to spend time with her that day and advise her of all the wonderful things our neighborhood had to offer as she advised me her mind was made up and was going to convince you and your husband to purchase the house. I believe a higher power willed me to be in the garage that day as she pulled into the driveway so that we could become great friends and therefore also introduced your family into our family’s lives. I will be forever thankful for that opportunity.

    I’m saddened by the transitioning of my friend I called Joyce. So many emotions over took me learning of her departure. My thoughts went back to 1971 when we first met through her cousin, Kathy my roommate at the time. We all became friends and stayed in touch. What perplexed me is our plans we were putting together ended so abruptly.
    This friendship started at Benedict College and it was genuine rather we spoke daily, yearly or years the love was there.
    It is my prayer God comforts, strengthens and give extra ordinary peace during this time of bereavement in Jesus mighty and powerful name. Much love to all touched my this great loss. An angel has gained her wings we can hope and pray to see her in the presence of God.

    I miss our moments together,
    I treasure each memory.
    You left with the key to my heart;
    Your life lives on through me.

    If only I had wings,
    I’d fly toward those stars
    And knock on heaven’s door;
    I’m sure that’s where you are.

    Just to hear your voice,
    See your loving smile,
    Just to hold you once again,
    I would crawl a billion miles.

    You’ll always be a part of me,
    For love never fades with time.
    I know in my darkest hours
    Your light will always shine.

  52. To the Cooper-Jones Family,

    This comes with the Gadsden family’s deepest condolences for the passing of our cousin, classmate and forever friend.

    I will treasure so many wonderful memories of Joyce’s beautiful spirit as we were growing up; school, church, especially our little group of gospel singers. My parents loved Joyce’s visits. She had the unique ability to make them laugh and enjoy the moment.

    In recent years, Joyce and I exchanged texts on Mother’s Day and a call during the Christmas Holidays. Joyce could begin a conversation as if we had spoken only yesterday. I will miss those texts and calls.

    My daughters said it best, upon meeting Joyce during your family’s visit with my family in Washington, DC years ago. They were so impressed with the “kind, beautiful lady with the pretty dimples.”

    To the family, we pray for your healing and peace during this time. Know that Joyce’s smile, heart-warming words, and beautiful spirit will live on in everyone she touched. She will be deeply missed.
