Mrs. Marchell Diane Williams Murphy was born on February 28, 1967, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the first born of Doris Cleveland and Hugh Williams, both preceded her in death. She departed her life on Saturday, November 20, 2021.

Marchell was educated in the New York City Public Schools. She also attended classes for billing and coding, which later became her career path. She would go on to work for companies such as Volunteers of America and Senior Life Management in New York. She later moved to South Carolina, where she worked for Palmetto Health and AFLAC.

Marchell was a devoted daughter, mother, wife, and friend. She truly enjoyed cooking, decorating, and traveling. She was the ultimate friend, party hostess, and shopaholic. Marchell was the type of friend who kept it Real at all times.

If you were a friend of Chell, she had no problem giving it to you straight no chaser. You may not always like it, but you knew it came from a place of love. Chell often said she had the best group of friends, and knew she was loved on this side of the grass and didn’t have to wait until she was gone to hear it. Her friends and family meant the world to her, but her grandchildren brought her the most joy.

Chell met her soul mate Ira in 2008, and later became his wife in 2016. She met the man God designed especially for her.  He was devoted to caring, protecting, and providing for Marchell. He furthered extended that love to her children and grandchildren as well. He was and will always be the love of her of life.

The memory of Marchell will be cherished and honored by: her loving husband, Ira Murphy, of Columbia, SC; her sons, Samuel Williams, of Brooklyn, NY, Lawrence Barrows, of Philadelphia, PA,  Chappell Murphy, of Columbia, SC, and Terrell Murphy, of Columbia, SC; her fur baby, Oreo; sister, Demetria Williams, of Brooklyn, NY; brother, Tremaine Williams, of Virginia; five grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
