  2. Mrs. Frances Hughes was a very generous person. Always was great greeted you in the church and very active through her service. She was definitely the driving force within the Hughes Family. She was definitely active within her community, St. John Baptist Church and throughout the Columbia area. Everyone loved Mrs. Hughes. When you talk to her, she was great at giving you her sincere and honest opinion on certain topics. Most importantly, she was very proud of her family, especially her husband Deacon Hughes. She was extremely proud her daughters Myra & Fern who are like my spiritual big sisters at St. John. She was excellent grandmother to her grandchildren. She was truly One In A Million. She will be sorely missed by many. Mrs. Mary Frances Hughes, May you rest peacefully in the Heavenly Kingdom of God.

  4. Myra and Fern our hearts are broken for and with you. Aunt Frances will be missed. We will especially miss her “kitchen table” counsel. She encouraged, supported , guided and loved us from that table while filling us with strong coffee, purpose and faith. She was a Proverbs 31 woman who led by example.

Please know I’m praying for your heart and mind to be at peace knowing your mother is in a better place. Words alone can not express how sorry I am for your loss. But, I hope you find a small piece of comfort in knowing her mac and cheese recipe lives on through me 🙂 I’ll always remember the loving, feisty spirited woman with a great laugh, who gave great advice and would not mince words… ‘if it comes up, it’s coming out’

    Love you both!
