Mrs. Barbara Jenerette Dove, the fourth child of Christopher and Annie House Jenerette, was born July 27, 1942, in Richland County, South Carolina. God looked down and said; “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For [you are]now ready to be offered, and the time of [your] departure is at hand, [you] have fought a good fight, [you] have finished my course, [you] have kept the faith and it is time for you to come home” and on Saturday, July 3, 2021 Barbara transitioned from labor to reward. (2 Timothy 4: 5-7) Barbara was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Phillip Dove, Sr.; daughter, Deidre O. Dove; sisters, Mable Huggins and Mae Frances Harris; and a brother Ernest Williams. Barbara graduated from Webber School, in Eastover, SC. She retired from the Ft. Jackson Finance and Accounting Division after over 30 years of service. Her retirement gave her the opportunity to do what she loved best; SERVE OTHERS. She became a foster parent and a dedicated servant in her church. At Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Barbara served as Deaconess, Trustee, a Hospitality member, the Mt. Nebo Juvenile Upholding Moral Principles (J.U.M.P.) Feeding Program, and a Missionary. Barbara also participated in the Senior Resource Foster Grandparent program at Gadsden Elementary. Mrs. Barbara Jenerette Dove loved children and loved helping whomever she could. She helped to nurture and raised more than twenty foster children for over 40 years. Her passion for helping others in need was not an option, even as her health declined. Barbara also loved cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family. Even though Barbara has transitioned to be with her Lord, she would like for her family to remember this promise of God: Isaiah 41:10 tells us; fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. This reminder is to those she leaves behind: her sons, Phillip Dove, Jr., of Gadsden, SC, Christopher (Kimberly) Dove, of Columbia, SC, Rodney (Sharlene) Dove, of Gadsden, SC, Dwayne (Atalaya) Dove, of Columbia, SC, Brian (Angeline) Dove, of Newport News, Virginia, Parris Dove, of Gadsden, SC, and Demond Dove, of Hopkins, SC; siblings: Dorothy (Hilton) Villines, Sr., Lewis Jenerette, Jessie Jenerette, Lucille Sumter, Robert (Joretha) Jenerette, and Harriette Jenerette-Pendarvis; brothers-in-law, Lewis Dove, Sr. and Cecil (Mary) Dove, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Blondell Galloway, Ester Dove, Lillian Dove, and Martha Dove; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; goddaughters, Ariel Hammond and Charity George; a host of nieces, nephews, and a lifetime friend, Amy Shell; all of whom will miss her dearly.

  6. Mother Dove, you taught so many things. You taught us all how to display love and always be concerned. You taught us that it really takes a village to raise a child. You personally taught me the value of respect. Thank you for always being a great example to young women. You will be missed.

  9. Sad isn’t an appropriate word for how I feel. Met this beautiful soul at my first job at Ft. Jackson, an she was one of the kindest and most generous woman I ever met. Always helping in any way she could, going out of her way to make positive things happen for anyone she came in contact with, haven’t seen her in a while but I know she was still helping anyone she could. This world will be missing an angel. To get family my heartfelt condolences, but I know she left a lot of wisdom here for you.
