Mrs. Deloris Elaine Jones Wilson was born in Columbia, South Carolina on January 27, 1951. She was the beloved daughter of Jimmie Jones, Sr. and Easter L. Scott Jones. She departed this life on Sunday, May 9, 2021, at the age of 70, after a courageous battle with cancer, while surrounded by her children and family.
Deloris was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She was loved by all her family members and friends. She treasured her children and family, and embraced every moment with them.
Deloris was baptized at an early age, and was raised up in the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church. She later joined Burning Bush Greater New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church.
Deloris attended public school in Columbia, South Carolina and was a graduate of Brooker T. Washington High School, Class of 1969. She attended Midlands Technical College, in Columbia, SC. For many years, she worked for the South Carolina Department of Social Services and the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce.
She was raised in downtown Columbia, in the Valley Park Community. Deloris took pride in being a member of the Valley Park and Ridgewood Communities, where many lifelong friendship and family bonds were established over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie Jones, Sr. and Easter L. Scott Jones; her husband, Anthony G. Wilson; a son, Monolito Antuan Wilson, and three brothers, Charles Jones, Jimmie “Sid” Jones, and Jerome E. Jones.
Mrs. Deloris Elaine Jones Wilson leaves to mourn her passing: a daughter, Shomona Wilson; a son, Domonique Folks; two brothers, Tony B. (Loretta) White and Reverend Robert P. White; a sister, Katherine A. White; sister-in-law, Angela Lighty-Jones; four granddaughters, Chelsea Boykin, Meosha Cheeseboro, Kiani Weathersbee, and Arielle Wilson; two grandsons, Anthony “AJ” (Kamaiya)Wilson and Demarri Folks; a host of nieces, nephews, many other loving relatives, and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
