Mrs. Grace Adams Mayers was born on August 2, 1940, in Lexington, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Jessie Caldwell Adams and Marion Charlie Adams, Sr.

Mrs. Mayers was educated in the public schools of Richland County, SC. She graduated from C.A. Johnson High School, Class of 1959.

Mrs. Mayers was baptized at an early age at The Greater St. Luke Baptist Church, where she served as a Deaconess, a dedicated member of The Tribe of Judah, The Senior Ministry, Jubilee Choir, Mass Choir, and Missionary. She also sang alongside her siblings as part of the nationally known Adams Singers.

As a child, Grace locked eyes with a bright eyed, suave young man under the porch of the family home off Sharpe Road, only to discover her soulmate, Wallace Mayers. On October 16, 1960, they were united in Holy Matrimony and continued to have unspeakable joy. They traveled across the world as Wallace served in the United States Army. The loving couple settled back home in Columbia, SC, as she became a loving and caring homemaker for her husband and daughter. The loving care Grace provided echoed through the homes and hearts of many other families and their young children as well.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Marion and Jessie Adams; and siblings, Marion C. Adams, Jr., Leona Brown (Rachel), Arnilee Outing (Tut), Jessie M. Mayers, and Yvonne Daniels.

Mrs. Grace Adams Mayers leaves to mourn her passing: her devoted husband, Wallace Mayers; her loving daughter, Olivia Wilson; three grandchildren, Frederick Derrian (Evay) Burrell, Lauren Kandice Burrell, and Desireé Faith Wilson; six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, and Jayden Burrell, Cameryn, Kennedy, and Chase Squirewell; one brother, Johnny (Mary) Adams;  one sister, Lois (Frankie) Jacobs, of Columbia, SC; two godchildren, Cyron Hart and Damitrius Outen; a special family member and  friend,  Jane Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members, and dear friends, all of whom loved and cherished her dearly.
