Natalie:
I send my heartfelt condolence to you and your family. Words cannot express how I feel right now. Ms. Perkins, touched so many people with her warm heart and beautiful smile.
She was the most genuine, caring, kind, supportive, loving, giving and joyful person that will live on forever.
Ms. Perkins and I worked in many capacities together at
CA Johnson High School. As a graduate of Johnson she volunteered in different capacities within the school. She was a support to the teachers, students, custodians and her community.
Ms. Perkins, take your rest. I will forever love and miss her.
My condolences to Natalie and her family. Ms. Perkins was one of the nicest teachers. She ensured that the children were taken care of. As an adult, I recall many memories from A.C. Moore Elementary and Benedict College. Take your rest, Ms Perkins
Natalie:
I send my heartfelt condolences to you and your family! Your Mother was such a pleasant person!! Cherish your beauty memories with her!!
Lots of love ❤️⚘️❤️
My dear Natalie & Family:
As you prepare to memorialize your dear Mother & my dear friend, I will cherish our two special days together just last week, as we sat on the porch for hours on Friday & again at Benedict’s homecoming game on Saturday.
Our paths crossed at her beloved alma mater, CAJ, as Science teachers, who taught next door to each other. It was evident to me then, that the love, care and compassion that Harriet displayed with her students, day in & day out, was genuine. And they reciporcated that love to her as they appreciated how much she cared for them in her many kind actions and deeds.
Her students were the better for having been under her tutelage as they would often stop by to tell her how much they miss her
as their teacher.
She was that kind of teacher with that kind of impact for all of the days of her life. She lived a beautiful life throughout her community as well.
I will miss her from our midst and reveare the life she lived so well.
But what I believe is:
“You live as long as you are
remembered”
May she now rest in the joy of Jesus!
Dear Natalie
Always remember that I’m just a phone call away. I’m still in disbelief that my friend, my line-sister is no longer here, however it brings me comfort to know she’s now soaring with the Angels! I hope you know how much she loved and cherished you! There was never a holiday to pass that I didn’t receive a loving card from Harriette. Her thoughtfulness included me and so many others!! She was truly a jewel.
Natalie,
Elvis, our family, and I are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your beloved mother, Mrs. Perkins.
She was a remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her warmth, kindness, and sense of humor.
I’ll always remember her sharing how my pound cakes never seemed to raise her sugar levels—she always had a way of bringing lightness and joy to every conversation.
Her smile, so radiant and genuine, reflected the pure heart she had, and her hospitality truly knew no bounds.
As you grieve, I hope you find comfort in the words of Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” May you feel His presence by your side, bringing peace and strength.
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
May you find comfort in the beautiful memories you shared and in the love of those around you. Mrs. Perkins will be dearly missed, but her spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
With heartfelt condolences and all our love,
Elvis and Dr. Shirley Groce and Family
Natalie your mother brought much joy to me with her beautiful cards and pleasant conversations. Much heart is hurting for you and your family. God bless you.
Our sincere condolences to you Natalie and your entire family. Harriet was a dear friend and a classmate (’62’). Harriet had a smile that would make everyone around her smile. We are Praying for the family; Harriet will truly be missed.
Sorry to hear of Ms. Perkins. She was the best elementary gym teacher anyone could have. She always made my day at A C Moore. She will truly be missed.
To the McMillan/Perkins Family:
I extend to you my sincere sympathy on the passing of your dear and sweet Harriet.
I have known Harriet my entire life, having been born and lived in Allen-Benedict Court, where Harriet, Doretha Kennedy and my sister, Necia Smith Allen (also a life-long public school educator),were the best of friends. When you saw one, you usually saw all three of them. If you messed with one, you had to deal with a formidable force of three.
I also was a public school educator who had the pleasure of seeing Harriet teach! She inspired her students, and could convey sometimes difficult subject matter in ways they could understand and then apply/demonstrate.
She was gifted and genuinely cared for her students, and for people in general.
I praise and thank God for allowing Harriet to be a part of my life!
Cherish the memories and the life lessons learned! A sweet-spirited angel has been reunited with her Lord and Savior!
With sympathy,
Dr. Carlos “Billy” Smith

Throughout my childhood she made sure I experienced everything that you were involved in, from Summer Camps, the Brownies and Girl Scouts or just spending every weekend with you all. Ms. Perkins had a hand in shaping and molding into the woman I am today. I worked with Harriet at Olympia School. She was a beautiful person in side and out. The Perkins family are in my prayers.
My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to you, Natalie. Your twin has been scooped up from the heavenly garden of beautiful flowers and has rightfully taken her place in heaven. Harriet was such a lovely, compassionate lady in every sense of the word. She truly cared for her fellow man and dedicated her life to educating all of GOD’s children especially the students at C A Johnson High School. Once she retired from Richland One Schools, she spent the bulk of her time volunteering at Johnson. Although we were not blood sisters, she was my Soror, my true friend, my sister. We shared the same birthdays, January 1st. She was always the first one that I would call to wish Happy Birthday and Happy New Year. I am going to miss her dearly but I know that she will be with you and me spiritually. I will be here when you need me. In the meantime, continue to keep on striving for the best as always. Your Mother will always be smiling down on you! GOD bless you and provide you with the necessary strength needed during this time! We love you.
