Ms. Julia Lee Lawrence was born on April 2, 1944, in Eastover, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Lawrence, Sr. and Lena Mae Ellison Lawrence. On Saturday, June 19, 2021, Julia entered into eternal rest when the Lord called her home from labor to reward, after an extended illness.
She was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. Julia moved to Chicago, Illinois for a brief period of time. When she returned to South Carolina, she was employed by the State of South Carolina at USC, as a Custodian until her retirement.
At an early age, Julia accepted Christ as her personal Savior. Julia was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church until her illness. She enjoyed singing on the Senior Choir.
Julia was a Heroine of Jericho, Eastern Star, and Daughter of Zion. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Julia especially enjoyed being a loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Jesse and Lena Mae Ellison Lawrence; her sister, Arnetha Scott; brothers, Jesse Lawrence, Jr., Joseph Lawrence, Jerome Lawrence, and Willie Lee Lawrence.
Ms. Julia Lee Lawrence will be fondly missed by her beloved family: a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry (Veronica) Lawrence; and a granddaughter, Jalyn Lawrence, all of Orangeburg, SC; three sisters, Junnie Mae Harris, of Chicago, IL, Evalena Murphy, of Columbia, SC, and Elizabeth Wesley of Eastover, SC; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Lawrence, of Eastover, SC; three aunts, Girline Ellison Goodwin and Geneva Jones, both of Columbia, SC, and Mary Hayes, of Eastover, SC; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
