Ms. Kathern Louise Clinton Lowman

Ms. Kathern Louise Clinton Lowman was born on July 3, 1962 in Washington, DC. She was 6th of 7 children born to Mrs. Manzel D. Bates-Brown. She departed this life on Monday, July 12, 2021. Ms. Lowman was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. She graduated from Dreher High School, Class of 1980. Kathern also went on to Midlands Technical College, where she graduated in 1984 and received her Associate’s degree in accounting. Over the years, Kathern worked many jobs that she enjoyed including: State Farm Insurance, South Carolina State Mental Health, and Fort Jackson Crown Laundry. Kathern remained self-employed many years as a tax preparer, but her true passion was in childcare. Kathern assumed a position in 2014 at Watch Me Sprout, and was currently employed there at the time of passing. Ms. Lowman was baptized at an early age. She was a member of Brown’s Chapel A.M.E. Church, until she moved her membership to St. Matthews Baptist Church. Kathern married Basile Lowman in 1984. Their union was blessed with three children: Kevin LaShawn Lowman, Kayla LaToya Lowman, and Shahidah Reneé Lowman. She was preceded in death by: her mother, Manzel D. Bates-Brown; her daughters, Shahidah Reneé Lowman and Kayla LaToya Lowman; one sister, Casandra A. Brown; brothers-in-law, John Young and Carnell Williams, Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Williams. Ms. Kathern Louise Clinton Lowman leaves to mourn her passing: a son, Kevin LaShawn Lowman; grandchild, Shahidah Lowman; brothers, Charles Bates and Cicero Brown; sisters, Elinda Bates Smith, Brevlyn Whetstone, and Constance Howard; sisters-in-law, Carrie Mae Williams, Estell Young, Daisy Mae (Robert) Sumpter, Janette Lakin, and Annie Lou Lowman; brothers-in-law, Rudolph Brown, Tony (Patricia) Lowman, Jessie Lowman, and Samuel (Charlene) Lowman; other relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
