  4. Mary and I were teachers at Gibbes Middle School. I was there 10 years. She was so sweet and the best teacher. I still have the plants she gave me in the late 80’s. That is about 30 years. When I water them, I always think of her. Rest in peace. Flon Graves.

  6. Dear Deborah,
My deepest condolences to you and your family! What a beautiful lady your mother was and you look just like her. I didn’t know her, but she must have been an amazing woman to raise a wonderful person like you! May she rest in peace! We will continue to remember and cherish the beautiful memories our parents leave us with! Be strong and have faith that she is in a better place now smiling and watching you!

  7. Mrs.Bates was such a Sweet Spiritual Hearted Person, who taught me all about the fundamentals of Mathematics in 6th Grade! She made me fall in love with Math, and it helped me landed a career to be able to oversee a federal budget worth over $200+millions of dollars! I don’t think I could have done any of it without her crossing path within my life! I always used to tell her when I saw her in Church, how much I Loved and Appreciated her so much! Teachers can either make you or ruin you, because that’s the impact they have on young people’s lives! Mrs. Bates knew that about Teachers…and she drilled into me things I took with me into my career! And when I taught classes, I would tell my trainees my main adjective is for them to learn something from me and feel proud about performing in their jobs! And believe it or not…Mrs. Bates teaching methods would come to my mind over the 30+ years of me teaching, because she taught with substance you couldn’t get any better than that! She conducted herself with Love, Concern, and Making it Matter to You! Rest In Peace ☮️ Beautiful Sweet Spiritual Queen 👸🏽! I will always Love You! 💛🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽😇🥰💖

  11. To the family of my former colleague, Mrs. Mary Bates: We served as science teachers together at Heyward Gibbes Middle School. Mrs. Bates was thoughtful and caring. Her pleasant demeanor commanded unspoken respect from her students and colleagues. As you continue to cherish fond memories of her, may God grant you peace and strength in the days ahead.
