  2. I’m late with my condolences, but my heart ❤️ goes back out to the family. I grew up on Cypress St. around the corner from Tony and Ann. We often wonder whatever happened to the friends that we grew up with. Sincere condolences and prayers to the family. This is from Rayford Richardson, from 2405 Cypresses St.

  4. I will always be grateful for his leadership, faith and example he set as a role model for young black males in our community. He was a good man to loved us players. Much like my parents he stressed discipline and academics. I will always remember the games and life lessons Coach Tony taught us. Football is but a stepping stone in life. Rest Easy Coach Tony.

  8. Our sincerest condolences to the family. Tony and I grew up together in the Valley Park neighborhood. He and I have remained friends throughout our lives. The greater joy came with our bond as fellow ministers of the gospel. I have witnessed his commitment and determination to perpetuate the Gospel of Jesus. He will be missed! ABSENT BUT PRESENT…

  9. To the Family of Bishop Tony Gordon:

Thinking of Ann, his sister, remembering his late brother, Renzer Ray (my classmate at BTW) and his wife and children and other family members.

Tony was a youngster in the Santee/Valley Park community when I visited the Hill Family back in the day.As we all became of age, I observed Tony as a young man who eventually entered the Ministry, of which he obviously thrived as a man ministering to his charges where ever he found them..
Given the praise and adulation being shared by many, Bishop Gordon was a caring & compassionate man of God.That’s the Tony I remember from back in the day and later on as I would encounter him at common events in the community as he was becoming all that he became.

His transition from this life, at this moment in time is, needless to say, unexpected by many. However, it is written that “death is a miracle of healing” So family, know that Bishop Tony Gordon is now resting in paradise with the God he served & his fellow man he lovingly catered to daily on this side of the Jordan River.
May he now rest from his labor and his works follow him!

Wishing for each of you, the loving arms of Jesus as they surround and support you at a time such as
this. To God Be The Glory

  11. My condolences to the Gordon family. I meet Tony when we were planning to start the Columbia Business Network Association, better known as CBNA. Tony was the first elected president and did an exceptional job of helping Black businesses in Columbia grow and succeed. Tony was great with people and had smile that made you feel you were important. He was a successful business owner, who had passion for seeing black businesses in Columbia thrive and succeed. We will miss you on this side, but we know God has a special place for you in heaven. May God smile on you and your loving wife.

  21. Bishop Tony Gordon grew up in what we called “Valley Park” now known as “King Park”. He was also instrumental in the integration of Dreher High and the last time I saw him was this summer at Class Reunion.

During the lost of my younger brother Stanley a number of years ago, Tony was a comfort to my Mom. What a powerful angel!. Please tell my brother hello for me and you guys continue to play street football.

Family, it is not goodbye, just time for Tony to rest. Look to see him again in Heaven!

  33. To my Bishop Tony Gordon,
Whom I love dearly, the one that supported me threw the good times & bad even when I did not deserve your love you always treated me the same. You’re the only person that could make me cry and make me have the biggest smile on my face every time I saw you with your loving spirit. I will always remember what you have done for me & Albert. That day in Rehab after I had my stroke, sitting in that wheelchair my spirit was down that day, when I looked up during my Physical Therapy and saw you and Mrs. Gordan walking up, my spirit changed to being so Happy. Just your presence calm my spirit and changed my mindset. I will miss you and always love you. See you later my favorite Bishop.

  47. I’m still in shock after the learning of Tony’s passing and My heart goes out to Jean and the children and the entire Gordon family. I had the pleasure of living next door to the Gordon’s for several years and was on his coaching staff at St. Andrews Park. One would be hard pressed to find a kinder and more caring individual. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor and gave so much back to his community. He later became and continued to be a man of God who did not just act like a Christian but was the epitome of one. The family, community, and the world has lost a “Good Man”. I will forever cherish the fond memories I have of him his wife and family, and my family’s prayers go out to them as they bear the burden of having to navigate through life in his absence. Rest easy neighbor.
