  1. My sincerest condolences to all of my family. Time has not given me solace yet, but with God’s grace I will get there. We ask not why but put all faith and trust in the Master for everything. Reflect on the love and kindness Barry showed so often. Many times he’d call me just to say hello. Keep the faith in these difficult times. God’s grace is sufficient to see us through. Lovingly submitted, Eartha and Saundra

  20. My condolences to Mrs. Sharon and the Lynn family. I pray that you all find comfort, strength and understanding during this difficult time.

I had just spoken to my uncle Tony a few weeks ago, and he had mentioned that Mr. Barry had asked about me. Mr. Barry was a kind and wonderful neighbor in Raleigh, North Carolina. We always visited and spoke with him and his wife during our walks/ rides around the neighborhood. I especially enjoyed the free candy and my favorite chips called motherland (bbq chips).

Mr. Barry will forever be in our hearts. He left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered, wanted better for our youth, believed in others, and showed nothing but kindness/grace. He made you feel like you were his family.

God bless and keep your heads up.

  22. Since I was a kid, I’ve always lived in the same neighborhood as Mr. Barry. My neighborhood friends and I would often be out playing games in the street and enjoying the fresh air.

I still remember the first day Mr. Barry came walking down the road with his dog Cinnamon. He greeted us and offered us each a large box of the best candies and it wasn’t even Halloween!

From that day on, we’d often see him and chat about what was going on in our lives and he’d always have new candy for us. These are memories from my childhood I will never forget and his kindness is something I will carry with me forever.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

  23. Sharon and the entire Lynn family,

Learning about Barry’s transition has been painful but Isaiah 35:10 reminds us that “Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.” Sleep on my brother and continue to Rest in Power. We will see you again in that great “gittin up” morning!
