  1. Junior, my heart is heavy and broken, but I realize that all our days are numbered by the Lord; and that final day of our life we don’t know. You lived a life of caring for your family, immediate and extended. I will remember your laughter, your swag, and your cool dress. I will also remember how hard you’ve always worked at keeping those yards manicured! May you rest in peace now from all your labor! You are gone but will never be forgotten. May God bless, keep and comfort the family. We love you.

  3. To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord. Your family has my deepest condolences and will continue to be in my prayers. I will always remember your smile, tone, and emphasis on taking care of one another when it comes to family and friends. You had your rules, and they were rarely bent. You did not play at all when my bestie was on punishment and her phone privileges were taken—or when she couldn’t talk until after 7pm (IYKYK), as well as, being on top of behavior and academics throughout her scholastic journey. I knew you meant business. From my many visits to the house—you would make sure the cars were always kept nice and clean, you would wear this leather vest from time to time that always made us laugh because we knew a good time was being had, and the passion you had for landscaping will remain in my memories of fun times. I know you will continue to look over your family and friends, as they hold tight to their memories and love for you. Rest easy Mr. Johnson.

  6. Mista Johnson, thank you for letting three hormonal teenage girls take over your home—and making us feel safe, loved, and cared for while we figured life out. We watched you protect the people you loved and show us what it meant for a man to provide and stand strong. Your love was tough, but so is the world.

And thanks to you, I can officially tell the difference between someone who just cuts my grass and someone who cares for my lawn!

Your height may have been small, but your presence was HUGE and never missed. I’ll always remember that smile, that firm tone, and hearing you say, “I’ma roll out!”
