God has truly gained an angel and an amazing man, inside and out. He showed nothing but kindness and love toward his students and poured into others as if we were his own.
I will forever be in deep sadness and sorrow knowing that he is no longer in our earthly presence. Though I have not been in his class for almost six years, I still remember my middle school memories and, most importantly, I remember Mr. Jenkins as an amazing teacher who made you love social studies, even if you didn’t want to be there.
He not only taught us social studies, but he also taught us to be authentically ourselves because, at the end of the day, you are the one who runs your world. To this day, I still live by that same saying.
Mr. Jenkins, thank you for the impact you made on so many lives. You will forever be remembered, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
Rest well, Mr. Jenkins.
Though I’ve been out of your class for about 3 years now, I still remember everything you taught us. You showed me kindness, grace, and impossible confidence as you taught us history and the background of several Marvel movies. 6th grade was a hard year for me, and yet I can look back on that year with fondness because of you. It hasn’t fully set in that you’re gone yet, and I know many of the people whose lives you’ve touched are grieving your passing. You were one of the best teachers to pass my way, and I will forever pass on your teachings of how to be a good human to everyone I meet. Thank you, Mr. Jenkins. You were my superhero.
I am writing this to honor a man who wasn’t just my Social Studies teacher he was genuinely the best man I have ever met.
He had a rare gift for making history come alive. Class was never boring because he brought so much energy, humor, and heart to teaching every single day. He made sure every student in his room felt heard, valued, and capable of achieving big things.
Anyone who spent five minutes in his classroom knew two things about him right away: his unconditional love for the Pittsburgh Steelers and his absolute passion for the Marvel Universe. On any given day, you might catch him passionately breaking down a historic event, debating Marvel lore, or proudly repping Black and Gold on game days. He truly lived by the idea that with great power comes great responsibility, showing up for his students like a reallife superhero.
He taught us so much more than what was in the history textbooks. He taught us how to be good people, how to stand up for others, and how to stay true to what we love.
I am so grateful to have been his student. He made an unforgettable impact on my life and the lives of so many others, and he will be deeply missed.
Hey Mr. Jenkins! I am so shocked to hear of your passing passing…..It still doesn’t seem real. I want to thank you for being an amazing teacher and mentor…you made middle school such a fun time especially when I was having a hard time your classroom is something I always looked forward to. Not because of the room or the things in it but because of who you were, a kind, thoughtful and such a wonderful person! I loved how you treated your students we always had a great time loved learning in your classroom because you were teaching it!
I will never forget the amazing memories i have from your classroom. I will always remember the amazing banter, love of superheroes, and the fun field trips.
Reading all these responses really shows what an amazing person Mr. Jenkins was and how many lives he has touched! I know you are loving the new Marvel movies from above! Go Steelers!! ❤️
For too many days now the world is significantly dimmer because you’re not in it. Having to say goodbye to one of the best people..best friends I’ve ever had breaks my heart. 17 years of laughs, ridiculous banter, joy, and memories. Rarely did we leave one another without saying “love you” and that brings me unspeakable peace because I know those were our last words to one another. Brother from another mother, you brought an incredible light into the lives of so many and the world was a better place with you in it. What an impact! As much as it hurts it makes perfect sense that God took you first. The ringleader has to be there to welcome us all home. Don’t worry about our wrestling crew, I’ll take care of the boys. We will make it through this. Rest bud. Well done good and faithful servant. I love you than, now, and forever (lol typo intentional iykyk). Love, The little sister you claim you never wanted 😂❤️🙏🏾
To the family of Mr Jenkins,
My heart breaks with you in this time and I offer the sincerest condolences for your loss.
Mr Jenkins was my history teacher at Longleaf Middle school in 2011-2012 and he was an absolute joy. I remember his classroom being completely covered and decorated with posters and figurines of all his hobbies and interests — particularly superheroes from Marvel and DC comics. I remember the Superman cape he would wear to pep rallies and I remember how his history lessons were both funny and informative. He always knew how to mix learning and fun together in a way that has since stuck with me, at 26 years old.
He was a joy to be around, always smiling, always ready to tell a joke, and most importantly, always willing to be there for you when you needed a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on.
Mr Jenkins was there for me when it felt like no one else was — never burdened by the weight of supporting his students, treating them as if they were his own children.
Middle school was a rough time for me, but Longleaf was my home away from home, and I would not have changed it for anything in the world, because of Mr Jenkins and so many other amazing teachers there.
I will never forget Mr Jenkins; his kindness and humility was a virtue not often found and it is something I will always hold dear in my heart.
Heroes are not often made of steel and born from other worlds; sometimes Superman is your sixth grade history teacher, letting you sit in his classroom when he finds you waiting at the curb of the car rider line when everyone else has already been picked up, and showing you his figurine collection and telling you about his favorite comics.
There is nothing anyone can say that can make the pain of losing someone as amazing as Mr Jenkins any less painful, but I hope this message helps to remind us that spreading love and kindness is the most important thing to can do for your community while you are here.
Mr Jenkins will be greatly missed, but his legacy is carried on through his family, his friends, his students, and his community.
We will miss you, Superman.
Mikey J,
Thank you for being my first mentor. I was a young girl trying to figure out who I wanted to be in this crazy world and you told me the best thinging for me to do was to be me. As a city year young hero I spent countless of hours with you and the team for 2 years until I graduated out of the program.
We reconnected in college and you continued to pour into me day by day until you achieved your dream of teaching.
Thank you for coming to my wedding, for supporting my husband with your infinite wisdom and finally educating my son.
Your impact on my family was been truly generational. You will always be my brother in arms 💙. I love you and I can’t wait to see you again. Rest well and know you have changed the world for the better.
Football season won’t be the same without you!!
Greatness comes in many different packages and if you opened the person of Michael you would have found a young man with a passion for superheros who was a needed superhero for many students. I worked with him at Longleaf Middle School. He told the kids I was his mom and many of them would stop by my office to verify it was true. I would reply, , ” If he said so then it is””. He will be missed but we were all blessed by his presence in our lives. Just
being that teacher made him a superhero and more so a super teacher. WELL DONE MR. Michael Jenkins! Final lesson plans completed.

My heart felt condolences to the family, friends and all who mourn his passing.
To the Jenkins’ Family,
My prayers to you for peace and comfort now and in the days to come. 26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14: 26-27 NKJV). May you hide these words in your heart.
Michael was an inspiration and honestly I probably would not be teaching if my wife did not arrange a conversation with him. Gonna miss all the conversations after school. He is someone I look up to and hope to be half as great as he is. I heard somewhere grief is all of the unexpressed love you have for that person and he is loved much. He will always be remembered and missed.
Mr. Jenkins was and will always be my favorite teacher. I met him when I was 11 in and he’s forever kept in touch 13 years later. That just shows how consistent and caring he was. He was the most joyful and kind person I knew. I have so many memories I could share but he would always play Andy Mineo in the class room and to this day I still listen to the neverland album and think of him.
What I believe is most important to share about him is his love for Jesus and love for people. He always ministered to people in the way he knew that they needed.. even from the sowing the seed of playing Christian rap music in the classroom. His actions showed who he belonged to and what his purpose was. Mr.Jenkins life is a great reminder and reflection of how we should live, how we should impact others, and what people should see when they look at us. God gave Mr.Jenkins a divine purpose and he fulfilled that in every way possible.
Whether he was your teacher or not his spirit was contagious and you couldn’t help but to love him. He gave the best hugs and I know that our father Jesus gave him the biggest one ever and told him well done.
Hearing about your passing hit me like a ton bricks. It was a complete utter shock to me, didn’t wanna believe it at first. And still hard to believe but i know you’re in a better place. Since I’ve met you as my six grade social studies teacher, you have been one of my favorite teachers. you always made sure anyone felt welcome in your classroom. Through anything I had going on since I’ve left your classroom you always made sure you were there. Birthdays, graduation, any concerts I had for school, any family event, etc. you were there. when I lost my dad and need someone at his funeral without hesitation you comforted your adoptive daughter. You told me that I’ve been your daughter since then, and without a doubt you have always been my second dad. i’ll miss receiving a text of “have you had any mozzarella sticks or chicken tenders lately? We should go get some.” And the big hugs followed with “you know I’m proud of you and I love you”. I’ll never forget any of the advice you’ve given me over the years, or the love you’ve shown me no matter what was going on.
No matter what for anyone who knew you, you have always encouraged them to be themselves, never judge them about anything. If they were authentically themselves, that was all right in your book. You gave the best advice when someone needed to hear it.
Rest easy. I’ll always love you, father Jenkins
My condolences to his family and friends. ❤️
I never understood how Mr. Jenkins didn’t give up. Our school tried their hardest to keep the kids in line, but the kids were all so broken and gave up on themselves so they acted out. Mr Jenkins always loved and cared for those who didn’t care for themselves. He wasn’t just a teacher, he was and is an inspiration for us all. When I first saw the message, I covered my face in tears because I just couldn’t believe it. Some teachers only want their students to pass and move on, but Mr. Jenkins built a relationship with everyone he crossed paths with. He’s a big part of helping my brother calm his anger in a tough community. He helped me learn how to love others through Christ. Middle school wasn’t easy, but he was a light to all. This isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later.
– “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
Mr. Jenkins, may you fly high you’ll be missed, loved, remembered, and Forever honored, by All the students you’ve have. You were my favorite teacher while I was in 6th grade.Thank you for all the amazing memories

You will be missed Mike. Your joy at boxing was contagious. Hugs to your family and friends.
I am deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Mr. Jenkins. I had the opportunity to work with Mr. Jenkins at Longleaf Middle. Although he was just getting started, I knew he was an extraordinary teacher then. His enthusiasm for teaching was contagious, and the energy, encouragement, and genuine care he brought to his classroom inspired both students and colleagues every day. He had a remarkable ability to engage his students, making learning meaningful and creating an environment where they felt supported and challenged to succeed. His impact will be felt for years to come. Our heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends, students, and everyone whose life he touched. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
May you find comfort in the countless lives he influenced and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
there truly are no word to explain the impact that you had on me and every other student you had the chance to meet. from the playlist bops, the roast contests, and the unmatched energy you brought with you everyday. your light was so bright and you’ll be missed so deeply. iloveyou forever.
your starfish ❤️.
Mr. Jenkins you will truly be missed. Although I only met you once, my daughter raved about you! My daughter was so nervous leaving Longleaf in the middle of her 6th grad year. Her teachers there told us that they would be letting a Mr. Jenkins know she would be a new student at SPMS. They assured us that she would be in good hands. I was so happy to see your name on her new schedule, as I knew the teachers at Longleaf knew how shy my daughter was. Thank you for being there for my daughter, and touching these Childrens lives like you have! Reading through these condolences is heartwarming, it has led to conversation in my own home about what a legacy truly is. Jenkins family, you are in my thoughts and prayers, you knew first hand how amazing you loved one was. May the memories and sweet words of his students, friends, and former colleagues be a reminder of the amazing man Mr. Jenkins was. God bless!
Mr.Jenkins, I don’t think I could’ve ever asked for a better teacher, you were the most amazing light in my life, having you as a 6th grade teacher was awesome. I never fully got to say goodbye. And that’s what pains me the most, because frankly, you never really know when it’s gonna be somebody’s last day. I appreciate you for always having my back and helping me with everything throughout my years at summit.
You’ll always be a superhero in my eyes.
Until we meet again.

Your love for heroes, anime, and everything pop culture made me feel seen as a student in your middle school class. I always liked talking about the recent episodes of Dragon Ball Super with you. You felt more than a teacher to me, but a friend. It’s so inspirational to see someone who’s so much proud and passionate in the things they love and having no doubt in expressing theirselves in the most authentic way.
Rest Well Jenkins 🕊️
I’m truly at a loss for words.
Mr.Jenkins was a one in a lifetime teacher, coach, and person. Some of my favorite memories were in his classroom.
You will forever be missed,
Rest easy, Mr.jenkins
I still can’t get over your death Mr. Jenkins. I miss you so much. I was excited to come to your classroom at the end of 8th grade you give you one last hug as a summit parkway eagle. You were the best teacher I could’ve ever had for my sixth grade year. Best wishes to his family. We love you Mr. Jenkins, rest well 💕 ❤️
My deepest condolences and prayers are with the family. May God give you strength and comfort during this difficult time.
Mr. Jenkins was such a great person and wonderful school leader. He will be missed by his Richland District Two Family.
PS. Your R2 School Board Member
I still am at a loss for words. Mr.Jenkins, I had the privilege of starting my morning with you everyday in middle school. That is a time I will never forget. You taught me more than any teacher could. You accepted me and every classmate for exactly who we were. Every one of us knew we could come to you for anything we needed, no matter what. I will never forget the field trips we went on in Zoobot. Love you 3000 Mr. Jenkins. You will never be forgotten.
Michael was an amazing man who was a light to be around. Michael, you will be missed. I will miss our talks about anime and teaching. You were a light that blessed everyone who was around you.
Mr. Jenkins was one of my favorite teachers in middle school. He was my first social studies teacher of 6th grade and he taught me to love social studies. I loved entering the classroom to music, good vibes and loud laughter. He genuinely cared for each student he met and changed the lives of many. I know he’s in Heaven teaching those who didn’t get the chance to experience life. Continuing his legacy with God. We love you!!
I’ve known Mr Jenkins…since my 6th grade social studies class. What stood out to me the most was his love for all types of music. He would play rock or even anime openings during class and he definitely helped me expand my music palette. As I come up to my last years of highschool, I really, really wanted him to be here. To see how far I’ve come. And how much I’ve grown however, I know he’s in a much better place. He helped me so much throughout middle school, so I know that he’s thriving even now. Thank you so much Mr. Jenkins.
It’s easy to realize how much you take someone for granted when they’re gone. Words could never fully express how deeply this loss is felt or how much of an impact Jenkins had on the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Jenkins was someone you could rely on for anything a laugh, advice, TV, movie, or anime recommendations, a snack, friendship, or mentorship. These are all things I never imagined I would have to go without because, in my mind, he would always be across the hallway, a text or phone call away, or sending me the occasional TikTok that he knew would make me laugh.
I met Jenkins during my first year of teaching at Summit Parkway. My dad immediately introduced us because he deeply trusted Jenkins with both me and the development of my career. He and Ms. Wylie jokingly told my dad to go away because I was in his hands now. He became my mentor and very quickly, a dear friend.
Over the past few years, we shared countless laughs, roasted each other, shared food, shared students, created inside jokes and, of course, participated in the daily shenanigans of our group chat with Blocker and Washington.
Jenkins’ biggest qualm with me was that it takes me forever to watch anything, anime, TV shows, or movies. He even roasted me in front of a student about how I was never going to finish The Legend of Korra. The two of them pointed at me and laughed while I just stood there taking it. 😂
One of Jenkins’ love languages was roasting. He was incredibly quick-witted, so you always had to be ready. But if you managed to get him really good, you were rewarded with his hearty laugh, a few tears from laughing so hard, and him completely out of breath. Better yet, you earned a little more respect from him.
I will miss our daily conversations in the hallway, crashing in Blocker’s classroom to have our daily chats, hearing his laugh, seeing the joy on his students’ faces as they entered and left his classroom, the shared popsicle after a rough day and, of course, his clever roasts and comments. There are something’s that I don’t know that I will miss until those quiet moments when I realize those moments are gone.
The Lord of the Rings was his favorite film trilogy, so it feels fitting to end this with a quote. In The Return of the King, Gandalf says:
“…Until we meet again. I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil.”
It’s a quote that I believe Jenkins would want to leave with all of us.
I love you, Jenkins, our Superman.
Until we meet again.
Your friend, Isis ❤️
Michael brought incredible energy to every boxing class. He was always full of life, with a smile that could light up the room. He loved Marvel superheroes and WWE wrestling, and that excitement was contagious. Teaching him was truly a privilege, and he made every class more enjoyable. He will be deeply missed, but I’ll always remember his spirit, enthusiasm, and the joy he brought to those around him. Rest in peace, Michael.
My condolences to his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.
I had the privilege of getting to know Mike at Title Boxing. He was so full of life and energy, and one of the kindest people I have ever met.
Mike Jenkins truly was a superhero. He’ll be missed tremendously.
The teaching community has lost an incredible educator and mentor, and I have lost a good friend.
It was an honor to teach alongside you, Mike. Thank you for the laughter, kindness, and joy you brought to our team every day. Thank you for always being a champion for your students and for making a lasting impact on so many lives.
I’ll always smile when I think about you give the waitresses a hard time over your drink orders. Those moments—and the countless laughs we shared—are memories I’ll treasure forever.
We will continue to laugh, smile, and tell stories as we remember all the wonderful times we shared.
Rest easy, Mike. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
My condolences and prayers.
Hey Mr. Jenkins, I recently heard about your passing and it has been rough these past few days trying to accept it. You were a man who showed kindness and compassion to all his students and I really am grateful for you to do that. I read the note you gave me on the last day of middle school and it touched my heart. You always wanted the best for everyone. Mr. Jenkins, you are the only teacher to have been rooting for me every year and I could not be any more happier. You have affected my school years with confidence and to always make everybody happy. I wish I got to speak with you for the last time. You will always be the goat Mr. J. You make my heart happy.
You inspired so many, and not just students which were innumerable. Your impact went beyond the classroom, and will carry-on for decades to come. Colleagues and peers looked to you for advice and guidance. You set the standard that the rest of us aspired to obtain. There is an emptiness now that you are no longer with us, but your spirit will continue in all of us. For we are all better for having known you. I am blessed and honored to have called you friend. Rest easy my brother.
Mr. Jenkins was my favorite teacher at Longleaf. I will never forget the way he could make the whole class laugh and we would all leave with a smile on our faces. I remember the last time I saw him was when I had just graduated high school. I happened to run into him at the grocery store and we had a great conversation, I will hold onto that memory forever. Mr. Jenkins truly cared about his students futures and he inspired all of us to be the best versions of ourselves.
Rest in peace Mr. J
You really were the best social studies teacher anyone could ask for, and I wouldn’t have wanted anybody else for three years straight. I’ll never forget that classroom, and you’re probably a big part of how I ended up doing research in Japan. Hope you can watch the next black panther movie with Chadwick himself.
Not sure where to start but I know that our bond started my 6th grade year at longleaf and from that moment on you never left. You were a second dad to me and there will never be any denying that. You are also the reason I’m obsessed with quotes! Your heart was so big and we have so many memories. I’ll love you forever and always and as you use to say to the moon and back. You never missed a birthday and you encouraged me to keep going with my foster child. Thanks for being this amazing person. God gained an angel and I know I gained another guardian. Rest now paps ❤️.
Mr. Jenkins is really nice man I could tell, but I never really knew much about him. He was an outgoing man really nice all the times I saw him in the hallways or in the classroom. She was always excited.
May he rest in peace and forever be in our hearts
Mr.Jenkins it was just last year I was in your homeroom class and am beyond grateful that is was. You were probably my favorite teacher of all the teachers I had in school. You were the GOAT. Through all the daily facts, all nerdy and corny jokes, you still wee always the goat. I hope you soar high up with Jesus Christ for all of eternity. I thought you could see me graduate. It is just too soon. When my mom told me I broke down crying I will admit it too I was always eager for you class. So, I have to stop writing before I write 80 paragraphs.
Rest In Peace The GOAT of many years❤️❤️
Here’s a warmer, polished version that keeps your voice and personality:
I’ve read every single comment, and every word rings true, so I’ll keep this brief.
From the moment I met you—as a brand-new mom and a young assistant principal—you had my back. You were passionate, genuine, one of a kind, absolutely hilarious, gentle, incredibly intelligent, and so very kind.
And most importantly… you shared your mama’s pineapple upside-down cake with me. 😆
My heart is truly hurting. This is such a tremendous loss.
Praying for your mom, your family, and all who had the privilege of loving you.
Mike Jenks… rest easy, sir. ❤️
Mr. Jenkins was one of the first teachers I saw going into a new middle school where I knew almost nobody. His classroom was decorated with all sorts of action figures and posters and he did his very best to make us feel welcome and included. He supported us with both school work and personal problems, often stopping lessons to talk about whatever issue was going on or to banter with a classmate. I was lucky enough to have him all 3 of my middle school years and was very upset when he got transferred to summit middle school. I did get to see him again after I had graduated high school and we had a good talk about life and how things had been. I regret not reaching out again, as I thought we would have more time. He was most definitely a pillar of my school life and I know he continued to inspire kids as he continued teaching. He will be dearly missed.
Mr.Jenkins i’m really hurting to even be typing this out, Blessings to you and your family, you taught me respect, honesty, and kindness. You made history the best middle school experience for me. I remember you playing the Shinsuke Nakamura theme song during downtime along with the Finn Balor one. And to us being steeler fans. I enjoyed every second. Love you man❤️🕊️
Mr. Jenkins was more than a teacher—he was a support system and one of the greatest mentors I’ve ever had. He had a way of making learning fun, but more importantly, he became a pillar in my life. No matter what I was going through, he was someone I could always talk to.
Even years later, he never stopped checking in on me. Those yearly messages and words of encouragement always made my day. One thing he always told me was, “Don’t let anyone get to you. That’s how they control you.” I still carry those words with me every single day.
You helped shape the person I am today. Even after I was no longer in your class, you were always around the corner looking out for me. You’d pull me out of class when you sensed something was wrong, before I even had to say a word. That kind of care is rare. Nobody had a heart as big as yours.
Thank you for believing in me, for seeing me, and for always being there. You will always be one of the building blocks of who I am today.
Rest easy, King J. ❤️ You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
I am still lost for words 🥺. My heart completely shattered receiving the news, one of the worst news I have ever gotten. I pray for your mom and family and all of those impacted. Thank you for always being there when I needed it. Right or wrong you ALWAYS had my back. You made me wiser, you taught me lessons my own parents didn’t even teach me. Even after middle school and highschool you were ALWAYS there rooting for me. You’ve impacted so many of us and for that we carry your legacy forward. Thank you for unapologetically being you❤️. We will miss you dearly, we love you so much!
Until we meet again my superhero ❤️💛💙.
The daughter you took under your wing🫂.
I met Mr. Micheal T. Jenkins several years ago before he was a “ Multi Teacher of The Year “. He had great dreams and great aspirations and even though it’s sad to hear of his passing, I am very pleased to know that he lived his dream. He has lived and conquer his aspirations and he has loved and was loved. May God bless you, his family, his friends, and all those he has encountered in Jesus Christ name. Amen
I remember when I first met you in October 2000 at City Year of Columbia, S.C., on a retreat and we instantly became friends. We have known each other for 25 years. You were more than a friend to me you were a brother to me. My heart goes out to your family, friends, and loved ones. R.I.P Mike Jay 😢😥💔🙏🏿
My heart is forever broken. My best friend, my mentor, not once did you ever not show up. Taught me many things no other man in my life has took the time to teach me. Im so sorry man. You were perfect. You got me into everything nerdy. It breaks my heart to know about all the upcoming marvel movies i know you were dying to see. Im gonna miss those hugs, oh how i need one of those hugs, and that laugh. I miss you so much man. You got me all my first action figures. I swear you were always the coolest man around. Im gonna miss you from the bottom of my heart. you were always there. always there. i can go on forever rambling about you man. you saved me. my forever superhero <3.
Mr.Jenkins was one of the best teachers I have ever had. Had always had a funny joke or story. He always checked in on me to make sure I was okay. He even use to let me help around after school. He taught me so much. Mr.Jenkins you have left such a large imprint on my life. Thank you for all memories, love, and lessons shared. I miss you. My prayers go out to everyone who ever got to chance to love you or be loved by you, especially your mother and family. Rest Easy Mr.J❤️
I had you as my teacher for three years , every time I left your classroom I had a great story to tell, if it was about Greek gods or Aztecs, or just a cool fact about a superhero I’ve never heard of. I always looked up to you Mr Jenkins, you made such a big impact in my life and so so so many others I hope that you know that.
Rest in peace
Mr.Jenkins, to the best teacher any student could have.. I appreciate you for the impact you had on my life since 6th grade. Thank you for the laughs, memories of you loving oreos and having gerbils in your classroom or our zoobot field trips. You taught me some of the greatest life lessons that stick with me today.
Keeping your mother in my prayers, you will be dearly missed.❤️
i really can’t believe you’re gone mr jenkins. he was the only teacher who believed in me and had the same interests as me. this is my last year in middle school and i was so excited to come to his classroom on the first day. may he rest in power. king chocolate shadow 🖤💛
Man oh man, my heart breaks over this loss. Jenkins was my fellow Steelers fan and little brother. His love for kids and education was unmatched. Consistent bright spirit that exuded joy. The void left due to his passing will be deeply felt. While working at the Leaf, you could always count on Superman and action figures! Rest my dude, and we’ll miss ya down here.
Knowing that a student will never again break out in joy seeing your name on their schedule is mind blowing. You were a light and inspiration to so many, including my own. The world without you does not make sense. I. An only pray that you are at peace. You will be missed more than you know friend.
You were a real Superman – to your students and to all of us who had the privilege to work with you! Your ability to teach every student well and provide exactly what they needed was incredible. Your classroom was a safe space for so many students over the years and without a doubt you’ve left your mark on them and in this world. There will never be another like you! Thank you for all of the laughs & good times at LMS and thanks for always being in the trenches with us when times got tough. You really were a Superman!
He was a superhero from the moment I met him. He guided me through a difficult year as I transitioned from teaching in upstate NY to teaching in South Carolina. His energy was contagious. He was an authentic leader. Jenkins loved his students, staff, school, and everything about teaching. He will be forever missed. He flies with the superheroes now. Much love to his family, friends, and former students.
Michael Jenkins… I don’t even know where to begin. My sincerest prayers to your mother, family, and friends. You could not have been a better son, teacher, friend, mentor, confidant, motivator. The list could go on. To me, you are the brother I never had. Our laughs, deep talks, antics, more laughs, testimonies, pep talks will forever be with me. This hurts, however, I know you are currently awaiting the new Marvel movie in heaven. Jenks, thank you for always sharing your light with others. We are eternally grateful. Your legacy is massive. Well done! Love you beyond words. Continued prayers of peace and comfort for all who loved Michael Jenkins.
Like I’ve said before, Jenkins was THE man! While working with him at LMS, I quickly realized Jenkins was a man of his word and passionate about his career.
You could always count on Jenkins to be the perfect hype man, for his friends, colleagues, and students. His presence in the education community will be missed; however, his impact will live on.
Condolences to his family.
Jenkins had many names and was known by many. He lived up to those names as he lifted individuals up to his greatness everyday. He was always there for anyone as a great listener but also a great motivator. My girls were very fortunate to spend their whole lives with him and be around such a positive person that will forever change them. Jenkins had that and he was the best at making others better by being present for them. Jenkins will always be present with the people he meet. Rest in peace my brother from another mother.
I never got the chance to tell you but you help me come out of my shell in the City Year Young Hero program when I found out you liked pro wrestling too and that’s how we would bonded. Our friendship would continue as I got older but we still took the time to talk wrestling and have friendly banter about my Baltimore Ravens vs your Pittsburgh Steelers. I’ll close with saying I’ll miss you Mike and thanks for everything
Mr Jenkins always really know how to keep his aura up and he really knew his things Im gonna really miss you
Rip t challa
When I first heard the news it was like dang. That was the last thing I wanted to hear.
Your heart led you…..You were not my customer, but you came into the building…..Acknowledging, everyone. A true sign of a person who was taught well and respected life. My younger clients spoke of your influence in the classroom, So, as, I read these tributes, I know were a blessing to many. So good to know your purpose and influence will never be forgotten. God, we thank you!!!!
Mr. Jenkins taught and had relationships with all five of our children. He was a kind, loving, and caring man. He was always supportive-showed up at events and graduation parties-Ohana. We love you forever, Sir.
Hey Mr Jenkins! I’m Aiden and this is my first time experiencing something like this. Yes it was heavy in me and it made me shed a tear or 20 but I know your happy.
I’m glad you taught me and I’m happy to be called your student. It was my honor. Rest grateful and easy Mr. Jenkins. You were full of empathy and kindness. You taught me everything I need to know for social studies in 6th grade. It will be hard knowing you can’t be receiving anymore anime or cartoon action figures.. but fly high Mr J🕊️
Oh Mike…you could just walk into a room and make everyone feel better. Those waves and thumb’s ups you gave me from way down the hallway between classes gave me some of your superpower to keep going. You are special Mike and now you’re on your next journey with God in Heaven. It’s not goodbye but it is I will see you again in a little while my friend.
We were the original ZooBot team. Jenkins wore that wrestling belt and proclaimed being the biggest and baddest. The most tender heart, hearty laugh, and biggest smile. He always showed up for everyone. The world will miss his smile and the love he had for everyone.
Jenkins was a real life superhero. I have never seen another teacher have such a positive impact on students. Every one of those lives he influenced will carry on his legacy of kindness and joy. You could always count on Jenkins to make any day better. Truly one of the best men I’ve ever had the honor of knowing. My hope is to honor him by living life as he did- a smile for everyone and emulating kindness and empathy. Much love to his family.
Mike is the best of us. He was a thoughtful, caring, energetic person. As a teacher, he made the stories of history come alive for his kids. He gave each kid a safe space and the “ohana” flourished because of it. I’ll always strive to be the teacher he was but his gift is unmatchable. Rest easy, Mike. We’ll carry the torch forward for you.
When I first started at the Leaf, you taught 6th grade downstairs, and I taught 7th upstairs so we didn’t see each other that often. But, you always would make a habit of coming up to check on me. Once the ZB classes moved upstairs, we were next door neighbors and our friendship grew and grew. We laughed every day and even shared a few tears along the way. You taught my children who absolutely loved you. You were always there for whoever, whatever, whenever there was a need. I can’t believe you are gone and will miss you always.
Love,
The entire Wood Family
Mr Jenkins, you taught my sisters and I in school. Having you as my teacher was always a blast, you brought a fun and bright energy into every room you stepped in! From our shared love of the Pittsburgh Steelers to your awesome superhero collection.. you have always been a great friend to our family! We are sending so much love to you and your family during this time.
You have made such a positive impact for so many people and it’s so amazing getting to read all of the memories you have shared with others.
Rest easy Mr. Jenkins. You’ll be missed dearly! Go Steelers!
I’ve known Mr Jenkins since I was 11 years old. He was always so fun and welcoming! He helped grow my obsession with Marvel and everything superheroes. Even as an adult I was always messaging him trying to get details of a new movie or a new anime. Mr Jenkins will be missed.
Jenins hag a personality larger than life and a heart that was even bigger. He was the best of the best and has left a forever mark in he lives of so very many students, colleagues, friends.
Wishing all so loved and looked up to him, comfort during this sad time.
Mr. Jenkins,
The Universe 1000 Superman, you’ll be missed, loved, and forever honored.
Thank you for all the laughs, for coming to see me leave for Basic Training, and for taking me out with Coach Griener when my dad wasn’t around. You stepped up just to give me that feeling of having a positive male presence in my life, and I’ll never forget that.
I know you’re still watching over us, but now it’s truly with your cape flowing in the wind.
Rest easy, Superman. Much love. ❤️🕊️
Praying for the family. I taught with Jenkins at the Leaf and he was a great teacher, friend, and colleague. His impact was great and he’ll be greatly missed.
