I’ll always treasure hearing his stories about Harlem, the South, and his travels; he had a way of making history feel so present and real. Most importantly, his witness to the transforming power of God’s love stayed with me. He didn’t just talk about faith; he lived it. Poppa Bob finished his race well. Rest in power.

We met Cousin Bob at the Johnson-Hodges family Reunion. My Daughter was about 5. He placed her on a chair so that she could fit into a picture with them. It has been a pleasure knowing him. He loved his family and resided closely among relatives. “Mr. J” positioned himself to influence his grandsons. Their visits and successes remained a source of “grandparenting pride”.
