  2. My deepest condolences to Sam’s family. While at Claflin, most all of my good friends were from Cross, despite never hearing of Cross before that. Sam was my good friend, and a former roommate at Claflin. Also, we played outdoor court basketball together for several years, and served in the same military unit at Fort Gordon, GA. Sam was an outstanding soldier and a great person. We’ll all miss his unique laugh. I ‘Salute🫡’ you my brother. Rest well, my friend…🙏🏾

  6. My sincere condolences to the Whitten family.

Samuel and my crew shared many wonderful times at Claflin. Whenever he let out that unique laugh, we all knew he was up to something—and it usually meant we were about to have a good time.

Rest in peace, my friend. You will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

  10. It is so heartbreaking 💔 to give my deepest condolences to my bestie Bonnie and family. Samuel Whitten, nicknamed “Cuzin”, his family and I met during our military career, and have since continued our loyal friendship for over 30 years. He embraced me like his little sister as we continuously had lots of fun and laughter every time I visited his home. I always look forward to and enjoyed reading our birthdays and holidays shoutouts…too funny!!

I’m extremely grateful to have met the most wonderful, laid-back, most loving, caring, funny as ever, and the best and coolest friend. He impacted lives positively as a provider and family man. His name and the precious memories of friendship we shared will forever be treasured. Sam “Cuzin”, you will be truly missed.
