  5. My condolences to the Byrd family. I attended Hopkins Jr High school when Mr Byrd was a new young teacher in the late 70’s.
Fast forward to 2018/19 and I met up with him at Hand Middle School. He was still working and substitute teaching. We had great fun reminiscing about Hopkins. I brought an old year book in and he asked to take it home to look through it.

    He will be missed.

  8. To Shelton and the entire Byrd family: We would like to extend our deepest condolences in your time of loss and we grieve with you. Although we did not get the pleasure of meeting your dad, it’s obvious that he had a tremendous impact on who you are as a man, how you carry yourself, the respect and care you and your family show to others — all appear to be traits you’ve gained from your father. Rest in power Mr. Byrd and may your legacy of love and care continue to live on.

  25. Shelton Bryd as I know him (I always called him by his entire name) was my high school classmate. We were intermingled for over 58 years planning reunions for The Hopkins High School class of 1965. I already miss my friend and brother. He was our leader and we appreciated him so much. I will always cherish the time, visits at my home, his genuine love, his mathematics mind, goodies he always brought to me and my husband. He possessed the fruit of the spirit. I could write a book about Shelton but time won’t allow. Until we meet again my friend. I know you are wearing those golden wings flying around looking for your new home. RIP
