  5. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Oates family. Coach was such a good man and impacted so many lives. I only had the pleasure of teaching with and watching him coach for 3 years, but his love of the kids and community were so evident. He was a great athletic coach, but even more, he was a positive role model for those he coached and taught them to be better people. The world will miss you Coach!

  15. Coach, we will miss you greatly. You were such the example for all who you came in contact with. We love you and your family. If there’s one thing I know- I know that you AND your family has always put God at the head of your lives and it showed/shows…. I am grateful for the many lessons you’ve taught me about sports and the importance of academics. Your compassion for your students, athletes, family and your community spoke volumes! I remember Southeast Days when our class was the first class to step foot in that school; that is where some of us met you. The bomb squad had many memories under your leadership and time coaching us. You were the kind of coach that did NOT play favorites, even when your children played with us. Most coaches play favorites but not you…. As Mrs Oates stated on her post, you are no longer in pain and you are with the father. Get your rest Coach! Your life impacted many lives. We love you so much 💚💚💚💚

Even when we don’t understand- God gives us unbreakable strength. Rest on Coach Oates

He was the best coach and left a great impact on all of his students who he coached. He was very strict and it really paid off. He wanted to win and did what it took to win. RIP Coach

To: Brother Theodoro “Teddy” Oates Sr, Sister Sonya EvansOates, , Theodoro Oates Jr ., Garrett Oates, Titus Oates, Soniya Oates and Members of the family of Mr. Theodius Oates, Jr.

“ Verify, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” John 5:24

Brother Theodoro “Teddy” Oates Sr. the Falling Run Missionary Baptist Church Family were saddened to hear of the transition of your brother, Mr. Theodius Oates, Jr. the brother-in-law of Sister Sonya EvansOates and the Uncle ofTheodoro Jr., Garrett, Titus and Soniya Oates, We do extend to you, his immediate and extended family, and his church family our deepest sympathy and do share in your grief.

Always remember the power of prayer, for prayer can give you strength. You must also trust His wisdom and be guided by His hand. Although we know you will miss him, he will forever live in your hearts. The Lord will comfort you for Matthew 5:4 says “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”

Whereas, by death, God has removed Mr. Oates from his earthly home so that he may journey into a greater city. There he shall have peace forever. Whereas his death brings sorrow and pain, we know that God knows best. He is in God’s hand for Psalm 48:14 says, “For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.”

Only in hours like this do we know in fullest measure the consolation of His promise, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” John 11:25

Brother Theodoro, Sister Sonya, Garrett, Titus, Soniya and the Oates family, your Falling Run Church Family is here for you. Please feel free to lean on us.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Please know that you are in my prayers, and Coach Oates was an inspiration to the students he taught at Southeast Middle School. I enjoyed working with him at Southeast Middle. Coach Oates’s smile and humbleness touched so many students and their families. As a result, his legacy of being an educator will always shine fiercely within the Lower Richland Community.

    Rest in Peace,

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.
