  1. I just found out that Ms. Dotson had passed. I represented Blue Ribbon for many years and Ms. Dotson was a pillar of strength for that company. She worked tirelessly to provide jobs and taxi service for people from all walks of life. She always the most pleasant of people and I will miss her calls. She was a follower of Christ and I know that she now walks with the Lord. Condolences to all family and friends.

  3. Thinking of the entire family of of Barbara Jean Perry Dotson at a time such as this.

Our paths crossed when Lyon Street Elementary School opened its doors in 1961 and many of us from Tree, Senate House, Bratton, Washington, & Lyon St as well as Manning & McDuffie Ave. to name a few of
the streets, were sent there from Waverly Elem.
We were neighbors who did not know it until the school opened.

Later as we all moved to Jr. High, High School and eventually began our divergent pathways after graduating, I remember Barbara’s long and successful tenure with Blue Ribbon Taxi Company, and oh how she would whip that taxi across the streets & byways of Columbia, day in and day out.

She could easily have been recognized as “Miss Blue Ribbon” and her rise to the Presidency solidified her position in the business of which she was totally dedicated for all of the years that she was committed to them.

Surely she will be missed from the organization and all who knew and remembered her from early on up through her very long tenure with Blue Ribbon Taxi Cab, will remember her as a staple of
transportation at Blue Ribbon and the community at large.

She will be long remembered as a “lady of distinction” and power with Blue Ribbon & the community ftom which she hailed.

Goodnight Ms. Barbara Jean Perry Dotson until we see you in the morning.

May the many memories of all who knew you, serve as a beacon of comfort as you join the ranks of others who now rest eternally with our loving
Savior. To God be the Glory!

  4. I met Ms. Barbra more than 35 years ago when singing on the community choir ICC (Interdenominational Concert Choir). Even though the choir disbanded long ago, the friendship and closeness to our family never diminished.
Ms. Barbra became one of my mother’s best friends for many of those years. With me living in VA, she often called her 2-3 times a week, to check on her and my father, until he passed, often having long, boisterous conversations. She stopped by to bring her food and to make sure she was eating.
After my mother’s passing she then looked out for my son. Often calling him to make sure he was ok living in the house alone, now that his “Mema” was gone or just that he was safe. She even helped him find his very first job!
Ms. Barbra was a true ‘Guardian Angel’ on Earth, Always looking out for her loved ones and Now she will be one in Heaven, watching over us all.
Our deepest sympathy & condolences go to Mr. Johnny and his entire extended family during this very difficult time. We know exactly what it is like to lose a great mother, friend, & confidant. Our prayers are forever with you 🙏❤️

  5. So sadden to hear of the passing of Barbara Dotson. Barbara and my older sisters grew up together in the House Street community. I went to school with her younger sister Eddie Mae, ( Eddie sorry to hear of your sister passing). Then as we all grew up, had children, Barbara youngest son, Johnny, ( Johnny sorry to hear of your mom passing), and my daughter went to Eau Claire HS together. Then we all ended up being in the same church family, RDCI, small world. Praying for the family

  9. I am saddened by the passing of Ms. Barbara Dotson, President of Blue-Ribbon, who was a dear friend and business client. Barbara was a devoted Christian, dedicated and strong businesswoman, who wanted nothing but the best for Blue-Ribbon. She was a person I found to be honest, humble, unselfish, devoted, and worked diligently to continue the company’s long legacy. An example of her dedication and commitment was even more revealing to me when she called from her hospital bed continuing her leadership duties. It was an honor and a privilege to have worked alongside her as an Insurance Claims Consultant for over 15 years. My prayers are with Barbara’s Family and the Blue-Ribbon Family. May you find comfort and peace knowing she is now resting with the Lord.

  15. I’d like to express my deepest sympathy to the Perry / Dotson family, during the loss of such a beautiful person. I appreciate the time I had growing up with her and the rest of the family. Barbara Jean always had a big sincere laugh when she did so and was always friendly. She did a marvelous job in leading the Waverly Lyon Street Organization. It seems so tragic that we have more family reunions with our goodbyes than our hellos. The family can rest assured. that she’s in good hands.
