My prayers and condolences to the entire Brice family. Mrs. Brice was one of our community mothers that shared in modeling to us what being a wife, mother, and a true woman of God is. She leaves an incredible legacy of love and beauty behind. I leave with you the words of the hymn writer.
Sister, thou wast mild and lovely,
Gentle as the summer breeze;
Pleasant as the air of evening
When it floats among the trees.
Dearest sister, thou hast left us!
Here thy loss we deeply feel;
But ’tis God that hath berelf us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When this mortal life is fled;
Then, in heav’n, with joy to greet thee,Where no farewell tear is shed.
Gwen & Family, Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers for comfort and healing. Iβm so very sorry to hear of the passing of your wonderful mother.
To Vincent and the Entire Brice Family,
Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved mother, Mrs. Carolina Hopkins Brice.
When I learned of Mrs. Briceβs passing, my thoughts immediately traveled back many years to a very special chapter of our lives a time filled with friendships, families, neighborhoods, and experiences that helped shape the people we would eventually become.
Vincent and I go all the way back to our days at Crayton Middle School and Dreher High School. Those were formative years, and my friendship with Vincent naturally meant knowing and having great affection and respect for the Brice family. Some of my fondest memories are of those simpler days when the Brice family lived on Tree Street and my family lived just around the corner on Bratton Street. We were more than people who happened to live near one another. We were part of a neighborhood and a community where families knew each other, looked out for one another, and became woven into the memories of our childhood and youth.
The Brice family will forever be a part of those memories for me.
As the years pass, I have come to appreciate even more the people who provided the foundation for those wonderful times. Mrs. Brice was one of those special people. She represented a generation of mothers who quietly provided strength, stability, guidance, faith, and love not only within their own homes, but throughout the neighborhoods and communities in which they lived. She was truly part of the fabric of a community that helped raise and shape so many of us.
Reading the beautiful remembrances of Mrs. Brice, I was especially moved by how consistently people spoke of her kindness, warmth, dignity, faith, and caring spirit. Those qualities come as no surprise to anyone who knew the Brice family. The greatest testimony to a mother’s life can often be found in the family she nurtured, the values she instilled, and the lives that are better because she was here. Mrs. Brice leaves behind such a legacy.
Dale, my old friend, my heart goes out especially to you. From Crayton Middle School to Dreher High School, from Tree Street to Bratton Street, we share memories that reach back to a time and place that will always be a part of who we are. Although life eventually takes childhood friends in different directions, neither time nor distance can erase those experiences or diminish the affection we hold for the families who were part of our journey.
There is something especially profound about losing one of the mothers from the neighborhood where we grew up. Their passing reminds us that we are not simply saying goodbye to someone we knew; we are honoring someone who was part of the foundation upon which so many treasured memories were built.
To the entire Brice family, I hope you find comfort in knowing that Mrs. Carolina Hopkins Brice lived a life that mattered. Her influence extends far beyond the years she was blessed to walk among us. It lives in her children and family, in the values she passed forward, in the people whose lives she touched, and in the memories of those of us fortunate enough to have known the Brice family during those wonderful years.
May God surround each of you with His comfort and peace. May He give you strength during the difficult days ahead, and may the tears of today eventually be joined by smiles and laughter as you remember the countless moments that made Mrs. Brice so special.
And may you always find comfort in knowing that although her earthly journey has ended, the love she gave, the family she nurtured, the faith she carried, and the legacy she created will endure for generations.
Rest peacefully, Mrs. Brice. You were part of a special family, a special neighborhood, and a special time in our lives. You will be remembered.
With deepest sympathy, heartfelt prayers, and cherished memories of the Brice family.

To Gwen and Family and your Siblings:
As I express sincere condolences to all of you at a time such as this, know that I still have fond memories of your Mother over the years, as she would be getting off of the Melrose Height bus, passing 1017 Tree St. as she “made tracks” going home to 816 Tree St. everyday.
She was always so friendly and pleasant as she greeted me when passing our house even after a long day on the job downtown.
That left an impression with me of her warm character and as a member of First Nazareth, our church, for all of the years she attended..
She was without a doubt, a most dedicated employee of Sylvan’s Jewelers for all of the years that she worked with them. I understand that she was asked to return to work beyond retirement That spoke well of her work ethics, obviously.
She had such a beautiful spirit about her for all of the years I knew her and she always displayed that quiet dignity in her demeanor.
I shall always remember her as a member of the Waverly community and First Nazareth Baptist Church and a lady with a beautiful spirit, always.
Finally, I express in memory of who she was and whose she was, “Well done thy good and faithful servant, as you take your well deserved rest and abide eternally in the Joy of Jesus!! We will miss you from our midst!
To God be the Glory!
Praying that God comfort and strengthen the Brice family. May God continue to watch over you.
