  5. To my dear friend Leonard Mayers and the entire Mayers family,

My heart is with you as you mourn the loss of Shirley. She was a devoted wife, a beloved member of your family, and someone whose warmth and kindness touched me deeply every time I had the privilege of seeing her.

Leonard, we have shared a lifetime of friendship—from our early school days to our service in Vietnam and all the years that followed. In this difficult time, please know that you are not alone. My thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with you and your family.

May Shirley’s memory bring you comfort, and may you find strength in the love and support of those who care for you.

    With heartfelt condolences,

My favorite memory of your mother is when I first started working at Wilbur Smith & Associates, I met Shirley, Johnnie, Sylvia and Margaret and we hit it off and were good friends. I hope you’re proud of your contributions to this world, for they are truly appreciated. I can say with confidence, that God is saying, JOB WELL DONE. Love you forever.

  15. To. Mr Leonard, Jessica and Lenny: My prayers are with you all. Shirley always made me smile and welcomed me when I saw her at church. She was so graceful even during her times of pain and sickness. I will miss her on the Deaconess pew, but we will see her again on that Great Morning.

  20. A good woman is proud of herself. She respects herself and others. She is aware of who she is. She neither seeks definition from the person she is with, nor does she expect them to read her mind. She is quite capable of articulating her needs. A good woman is hopeful. She is strong enough to make all of her dreams come true. She knows love, therefore she gives love. She recognizes that her love has great value and must be reciprocated. A good woman has a dash of inspiration, a dabble of endurance. She knows that she will, at times, have to inspire others to reach the potential God gave them. A good woman knows God. She knows that with God the world is her playground, but without God she will just be played. A good woman does not live in fear of the future, because of her past.

May her memory live on forever through the lives she touched.
