  2. It has been my greatest honor and privilege to serve as the personal physician to Ms. Verdell Jordan over the past 20 years. We celebrated her life accomplishments together and supported each other in times of need. I looked forward to watching her enjoy her retirement. She looked forward to this next chapter of life. I will miss her. She was not only my patient but a cherished friend. I pray she has found peace. I offer words of comfort and sympathy to her family and friends. May God have mercy on you all.

  3. I met Verdell when I was hired as a fellow attorney at HHS OGC in Atlanta and she welcomed me and became a dear friend and member of my work family. Her kindness, wisdom, infectious sense of humor, and dedication to her family are what I will always remember most about her. It is unfathomable to think that she now rests safely in His arms, and yet, it is comforting to know that she is reunited with loved ones and is free from pain. My prayers are with her beloved family and most especially, Taylor, who was her heart. Rest in sweet peace and power, my friend. We will truly miss you!

  5. I am comforted in knowing, earth knows no sorrow that heaven can not heal. I hadn’t seen Verdell since we all move away from Ward #1. She and I reconnected on the phone with another Ward #1 friend and neighbor. We would spend hours reminiscing and having joyful walks down memory lane. Sorry we didn’t get to fulfill our plans to meet up back home. I will always remember her sweet personality, infectious smile and kind heart. My love to the Taylor family. My condolences and prayers are with you all. May God bless and comfort each of you as only He can. Take your heavenly rest my sweet friend until we meet again.

  7. Dear Family:

The personality of one, Verdell Taylor Jordan, aka, “Skipy” was a dynamic young woman as I knew her at the Historic Booker T Washington HS. She along with her classmates were in the last class of 1974.
During her tenure at BTW, Verdell was well immersed in her role as an active, & contributing member in all facets of school life.
She was actively engaged in athletics, governing, the arts, music, advisory & every other capacity where she saw a need to make a difference. That us who Verdell was as I reflect upon her tenure at BTW.

While I served as the Tennis Coach at BTW during their senior year, I suspect that Verdell & Wanda Scott did more of the “coaching” in retrospect, because I was also advisor to the BTW Majorettes & quite busy shuffling my responsibilities as a young teacher.

What I recognize now about the life living of Verdell Taylor Jordan, is that what ever she chose to do as a student or in her chosen profession as a practicing attorney,
she did it with her ‘”heart & soul” such that her involvement made a difference.

Some may say she left this life too soon. However, ones time here on earth is predetermined at birth, if not before.

So in our Hurt, we ask why Verdell at this time. In our Hope, we know that she now rest from her labor, and in our Humility, we have guaranteed assurance that we will see our loved ones again as we believe & confess our sins.

Finally, the death of our loved ones signals the end of the worst & the beginning of the best, that the God we serve offers to each of us.

Thinking of each of the members of her family prayerfully throughout the bereavement period.

  33. Although we did not know each other then, Verdell and I were Carolina students at the same time, she as an undergrad and I as a law student. We became friends years later when we both worked in the legal department for HHS here in Atlanta. She was a special person and a great friend. As I am older than she, I always assumed that she might shed a few tears on learning of my passing, not the other way around. I will surely miss her, as will MANY others.
